Does anyone know symbolism of Tarot cards? Traditional art for the tarot cards are laden with symbolic imagery and I'm looking for in depth details. Tower with the lightning bolt for god's wrath (Tower of Babel) is the sort of symbolism I'm looking for but with all the cards. Not the meaning of the cards but more along the lines of way the symbols and images are there. History of Tarot cards would be a plus. Any books or web sites?

Tarot cards, and true believers? My mom has a history since she was small to read tarot cards, since she's advanced she can actually see more stuff on the card that i cannot! I want to publish a tarot deck based on the life of a famous dead person. How can I do this legally? I want to publish a tarot deck and it's corresponding instructional book based on the life of a famous dead person. Each tarot card would include illustrations of that famous person and their life history as it corresponds to the symbolism of the tarot. However, the illustrations would in no way identify the person or the people they knew when they were alive. However the written interpretations of the cards could lead to their identity. Any information used to discuss this famous dead person would be taken from the public record (newspapers, bios). How can I avoid breaking copyright law?

Are they Christian, maybe Fundies, the folks here who are drawn to Tarot cards, psychics, astrology, etc.? Belief in ancient myths, such as the god of a Bronze Age tribe of murdering desert nomads, can, I have read, lead to belief to all sorts of other spooky 'myths'. One can't help but notice that there are loads of folk hereabouts who seem fascinated by Tarot cards, etc., which, for one, also goes a pretty doggoned way back in human history. What's going on?

Authentic Tarot cards in Sydney? I want to buy my friends a deck of tarot cards for her birthday, but I don't want to buy some cheap deck. Does anyone know If there is a difference in all the tarot card decks? Also, The difference between oracle cards? Can someone help me interpret these tarot cards? I did a 3 card spread (no positions) and I used the Rider Waite tarot deck/No Reversals. I asked the cards how does ___ truly feels about me? spirit guardians. please help me ?!? I'm a fourteen year old girl and I believe i have some spirit entity in my backyard. MY window is facing the back and i feel a presence watching me. I don't feel any immediate danger, and i know the spirits is male. I could tell you exactly what it looks like. Question for tarot players? I read this book called History of Card Games Played with Tarot Packs and it said that in the 18th and 19th century it was a golden age for the game of tarot. It was played in Germany, Belgium, Denmark, Netherlands and even Russia. The game was played with a tarot deck called a Tiertarock which had the playing card suits of hearts spades diamonds and clubs and there were animals depicted on the trump cards. Was this Tiertarock deck actually more common in the 18th and 19th centuries than the Marseilles Tarot later used by occultists.

Crisis of faith!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!!? Until about three days ago, I was a devout Christian. I went to church every Sunday, read pages from the Bible during some of my spare time and prayed about once every two days (on average). But I recently began to become interested in Tarot cards and their history and am very interested in the habits of a friend of mine who is Wiccan (it didn't really bother me up till now). I asked to participate in a Neopagan ritual and to me it was really fun! I consulted my church's priest on some of these things I had become interested in. He said I had to be careful and pray to Jesus for help and give me guidence on these (what my priest called) 'temptations.' He also said that they may be the work of Satan, as the feelings of confusion and temptation are Satan trying to get to me. I've prayed many times, but just yesterday I went out and bought my own Tarot deck, read as much as I could on Neopaganism and the ancient Pagan traditions. I also became interested in a witchcraft website! What's wrong with me? I'm losing faith in Christianity and I'm not sure I'll even go to church next week! Is this what you'd call a 'crisis of faith'?! Should I seek more guidence from my priest??? I REALLY NEED HELP but I didn't want to talk to my close friends or family about it because I would be to embarrased, so I asked for help here.

ten and nine of swords!? I have been studying tarot cards for a little while now. Can anyone tell me why tarot is seen as a bad thing? I've been reading through a lot of questions in the religion and spirituality section in relation to tarot and i've noticed that a lot of people have a very bad view of those who read tarot or tarot cards in general, and not to pick on anyone but a lot of 'questions and answers' i've seen seem to come from christian members of this site. i don't understand, of all the time i've used my tarot cards i've never associated them with religion in any way, or 'god', or 'the devil', nor have i ever read about tarot being 'demon-praise' as i read in one answer. never heard (or read) anyone 'badmouthing' tarot use until now, its completely unheard of to me....i'm baffled...and thats not easy... Am i missing something? Whats the history here? I'd love to understand this from someone's point of view from the other side of the fence..where does the bad image come from? hang on a sec fully alive 888, lets not forget the question, my question was mainly that i'd never heard anything negative about tarot so whats the deal? since when did you take it upon yourself to decide that i need help? or whether i want an eternal life with the one you call HIM? or that i need saving? and from what exactly...being open-minded? just who exactly do you think you are? i purposely made an effort not to step on anyones toes when i wrote this question, so show some respect and don't step on mine.

Does it go against Catholicity to learn Tarot Cars or research witchcraft? I was in a book store yesterday and I came across a shelve dedicated to Wicca and Witchcraft. I found a book on the history of witchcraft with spells and holidays and whatnot. I also found a deck of tarot cards. I find both witchcraft and tarot reading a facinating concept, and I was thinking about buying the book and the cards for the sake of research. But the thing is, I'm a life-long Catholic and was recently confirmed. Would my intentions be considered worshiping Wicca or sacreligious? My family seems to be psychic?Am i showing signs or just paranoid? The women in my family have a history of being psychic in a way i guess. They always read tea leaves and tarot cards, but also things like...one night my mum woke up about half past three in the morning, after a bad nightmare and felt really upset. Later that day she found out her cousin had taken a heart attack and died at half past three that morning. Also, she nearly died after breaking her back, and could se herself floating up and away before being revived. I've always felt like i just know when things are gonna happen or stuff like that but i've heard anyone can tap into that anyway. Recently, my close friend confided he has been cutting himself, and tonight i saw some ugly red marks on my wrists with no idea where they had come from?!What do you think?Any other similar experiences to share?

Can anybody help me to establish if any of these names are associated with aristocracy or royalty of europe? Years ago, my mother had her tarot cards read, and the woman told her that she was of 'diluted royal blood' coincidentally her grandfather used to tell her that her family was descended from royalty of some kind. I ignored both of these, as regard to using them as evidence, But last year I, myself went to a fortune teller, and was told ''You are one of great and noble ancestry'' which made me remember my mothers experience immediately. I am not an imposter looking to seek a claim to a throne, or anything like that, it would just be interesting to find an explanation. On my fathers side, I'm descended from the Irish and Scottish Mulligan Clans who were Barons (which were, in those times regional kings) in those countries respectively. I can trace that side back to around the 12th century, and interestingly, the Mulligan clan were said to have inherited male pattern baldness, and a grey (mallon) streak in their hair. My great grandfather, Grandfather, Uncles, and father have all gone (or are going) bald (I am 17, so I'm not quite there yet) and I am the only person of my paternal family to have inherited a small grey streak that runs through my hair, and also (quite wierdly) shows up on symmetrical places on my body (two stripes on my chest, and corresponding patches on my shins). Anyway, Im not here to talk about that side. My mothers family cant be traced further back than the mid 1800's. (well I'm sure it can but i'ts very difficult) So could anybody inform me if any of these surnames arise thoughout european history as royal, or noble names. Asatruar, Heathens, Forn Siðr, etc...? I am looking for a good book on Runes. Most of the books I have found are what one would expect to find in a book about Tarot Cards. I'm not sure why Runes are labeled the same as the Cards. So my question is - Are there ANY good books about the Runes? History, Uses, etc? What the??? It wanted to put this in Sports > Handball... how the hell do you get Handball out of anything here?

Can demons appear to you in your dreams? For the past year of my life, I've been having this problem of where I hear constatn whispering. Not in my head, but around me. Very rarely can I hear what they're saying. It's like having a tv almost on mute. I've been diagnosed with bipolar and borderline personality disorder, and right around the time I was told about my bipolar, I started having these horrible night terrors. Where I see these huge black furry things with long tails and big red eyes. Lately though, the night terrors have become more intense, with me slashing at my wrists with my fingernails, and shaking in my sleep, thrashing around, scratching on walls, and according tomy boyfriend, growling. I normally would always respond to my name while I was having night terrors, and that was a way hed have to calm me down. But when this stuff is happening, I don't. My boyfriend says the way I look doesn't look like me. I have a history of depression, anger, lack of sleep, a lot of messing around with tarot cards and fucking around with wicca. Could it be I'm being possesed by demons?

Psychics... what is your opinion? I went to see a famous psychic this morning with some friends. Let me give you a pot history of my experiences with psychics and fortune tellers up to today. fortune teller 1: tarot cards. She said that I would fall in love with a man, get pregnant, marry him, then divorce him. All within 18 months. That was 15 years ago. Never happened! Fortune teller 2: palm reading. Pure cold reading. she failed miserably as I can keep a poker face along with the best of them. Very easy if you don't understand what they are saying anyway. (I'm deaf) Can't remember what she said, but it was claptrap, as nothing happened. Psychic one: Edinburgh. the minute I entered the room with my friend, I had to get out. The heat in the room was overwhelming, yet my friend told me it was normal temperature. For whatever reason, I just could NOT stay in that room. Psychic two: London. Psychic refused to see me. Psychic three: This morning, Dublin. Psychic would not deal with me after finding he could not read me, and would not accept a second person in the room to write what he would have to say, and he also refused to write for me. He couldn't read my friend either and more or less told her to get out. (No, my friend isn't deaf) He claimed that having a second person in the room interferes with the energies. I pretended to be a psychic at a women's group gathering recently and scared everyone with how scarily accurate I was, especially with people I barely knew. I merely dabbled in COLD READING. Please help coursework redraft in for tomorrow? I am trying to redraft my orginial writing peice of courswork. I got 20 out of 27 on that, 13 for context and 7 for spelling and grammar. However for me, they represent my destiny, my tradition and my passion. As you shall find out….. Contrary to the name, Banshee Wail was a quiet sleepy village where not much happened. People would spend most of the day going about their chores and at dusk they would wind up in the ‘Old Ale House’. However, when ‘Jolly Joe’s Annual Fair’ arrived on the outskirts of the village, the whole place was transformed from a lethargic hamlet to a pulsating and dynamic party zone! Daymond is my name and I have been a resident of Banshee Wail throughout my whole life. No matter what rumours have been inflicted on our precious village I will still cherish my birth place. Our small parish was named Banshee Wail for a reason. Is My moms mental health repeating history? HELP!? Okay ill try to make this Short. When i was 12-13 my mom got into this stuff...idk what u would call it...Witch Craft? What makes you believe in the bible? I believe there is a God and I have been given signs that God does exist (long story, not getting into that). I'm a good person all around..haven't committed any murders, gotten in trouble with the law, and only had 1 sexual partner in my whole 24 years of life (my current fiance, please don't preach about premarital sex to me. God gave us free will and we make our own choices. I'm not here to be preached to, thanks). I believe I'm a good person and I'm not afraid of death at all because I know I'm not an evil person. Oh, I also believe in tarot cards and some of the occult, but I don't believe in the devil at all. I also don't believe in everything the bible states because it has been altered by men..and just like history the truth can and may have been exaggerated, changed, bias views, etc. That is why I don't believe in 98% of what the bible states. Everybody: Is this wrong of me? I feel like it is, but then again I don't? Okay, so I'm sixteen and during the summer I've really gotten into Wicca. I've went to various websites and am working on reading some more books on the subject. However, my step-mom is a hardcore Christian. My dad, although he doesn't pray, read the Bible or go to church considers himself a Christian as well and won't even let my buy tarot cards. My step-mom found the websites I looked at, and I told her it was just out of curiosity. Since school began I got involved in the Youth for Christ program and go to church with her. It's not that I'm into Christianity now, I'm just trying to get her to see me as a "good Christian daughter" so that she'll leave me alone and hopefully drop her suspicions. I hide all my Wiccan-related papers and books now and don't even watch shows like 'A Haunting' or even the documentaries on the occult on History Channel like I used to. I feel that I'm lying to her, which I guess I am, but I know if I tell her that I'd probably get kicked out of the house or forced to believe in the Christian ways. I don't want to move back in with my mom (we get in loads of fights, physical and verbal) but I don't want to be force-fed Christianity either. So, should I continue doing this or what? I mean, I'm sixteen, seventeen come February, and I feel that since I'll be out of the house soon enough, it's okay. But it just makes me feel bad because although she's a b!tch, I would like to think of myself as an honest person, and I can't with me lying to her all the time. :D

Is religious school an oxymoron? What's the criteria to teach there? Prior experience as a used car salesman or tarot card reader? Only an objective secular school can give you the true history of religion. Anything else is a conflict of interest because the folks involved don't want their concept of life pulled out from under them. I'm some sort of astrology child, but i don't know the name of it. Anyone know? I'm a certain type of child but I have completely forgotten the name. I want to do research into it, but without the name I obviously can't. My mother has a friend who is into Tarot, astrology etc and told me the name many years ago, but unfortunatly I have forgotten. Why would a "psychic" do this? I was hanging out with a girl in the city (NY) This girl is so important to me, I really like her a lot and want her back in my life. Crisis of faith!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!!? Until about three days ago, I was a devout Christian. I went to church every Sunday, read pages from the Bible during some of my spare time and prayed about once every two days (on average). Then I came to a stage where I decided that Buddhism is alright and noble, but I was not ready to leave the world, I was too attached to the world and was not prepared to become a monk and to isolate myself from society. I tried Zen and Ching, numerology, tarot cards and astrology. I tried to look back into the Bible, and could not find anything. At this time I did not know anything about Islam, and then, what I regarded as a miracle occurred. My brother had visited the mosque in Jerusalem, and was greatly impressed that while on the one ;had it throbbed with life ( unlike the churches and synagogues which were empty), on the other hand, an atmosphere of peace and tranquility prevailed. The Qur'an When he came to London he brought back a translation of the Qur'an, which he gave to me. He did not become a Muslim, but he felt something in this religion, and thought I might find something in it too. And when I received the Book, (a guidance that would explain everything to me: who I was, what the purpose of life was, what reality was, and where I came from), I realized that this was the true religion - religion not in the sense the West understands it, not the type foe only your old age. In the West, whoever wishes to embrace a religion and make it his only way of life is deemed a fanatic. I was not a fanatic, I was at first confused between the body and the soul. Then I realized that the body and soul are not apart and you don't have to go to the mountain to be religious; we must follow the will of God, then we can rise even higher than the angels. The first thing I wanted to do now was to be a Muslim. I realized that everything belongs to God, that slumber does not overtake Him. He created everything. At this point I began to lose the pride in me, because hereto I had thought the reason I was here was because of my own greatness. But I realized that I did not create myself, and the whole purpose of my being here was to submit to the teaching that has been perfected by the religion we know as Al-Islam. At this point I started discovering my faith. I felt that I was a Muslim, on reading the Qur'an. I now realized that all the Prophets sent by God brought the same message. Why then were the Jews and Christians different? I know now how the Jews did not accept Jesus as the Messiah and that they had changed His Word. Even the Christians misunderstand God's Word and called Jesus the son of God. Everything made so much sense. This is the beauty of the Qur'an; it asks you to reflect and reason, and not to worship the sun or moon but the One who has created everything. The Qur'an asks man to reflect upon the sun and moon and Good's creation in general. Do you realize how different the sun is from the moon/ They are at varying distances from the earth, yet appear the same size to us; at times one seems to overlap the other. Even when many astronauts go t space, they see the insignificant size of the earth and vastness of space, and they become very religious, because they have seen the Signs of Allah. When I read the Qur'an further, it talked about prayer, kindness and charity. I was not a Muslim yet, but I felt that the only answer for me was the Qur'an, and God had sent it to me and I kept it a secret. But the Qur'an speaks on different levels. I began to understand it on another level, where the Qur'an says "Those who believe don't take disbelievers for friends and the believers are brothers." Thus at this point I wished to meet my Muslim brothers. Conversion Then I decided to journey to Jerusalem (as my brother had done). At Jerusalem, I went to the mosque and sat down. A man asked me what I wanted. I told him I was a Muslim. He asked what was my name; I told him 'Stevens'. he was confused. I then joined the prayer though not so successfully.. Back in London, I met a sister called Nafisa. I told her I wanted to embrace Islam and she directed me to the New Regent Mosque. This was in 1977, about 1 1/2 years after I received the Qur'an. Now I realized that I must get rid of my pride, get rid of Iblis and face one direction. So on a Friday, after Jummah I went to the Imam and declared ;my faith (the Kalima) at his hands. You have before you someone who had achieved fame and fortune. But guidance was something that eluded me, no matter how hard I tried, until I was shown the Qur'an. Now I realize I can get direct contact with God, unlike Christianity or any other religion. As one Hindu lady told me, 'You don't understand the Hindus, we believe in one God, we use these objects (idols) to merely concentrate.' What she was saying was that in order to reach God one has to create associates, that are idols for the purpose. But Islam removes all these barriers, the only thing that moves the believers from the disbelievers is the Salat. This is the process of purification. Finally I wish to say that everything I do is for the pleasure of Allah and pray that you gain some inspirations from my experiences. Furthermore I would like to stress that I did not come into contact with any Muslim before I embraced Islam. I read the Qur'an first and realized no person is perfect, Islam is perfect, and if we imitate the conduct of the Holy prophet (peace and blessings of God be upon him), we will be successful.
