Is the Fortune Teller Right? Help!? Astrologers/fortune tellers-I need your help! This is a serious question, as I am pretty anxious about this. A Chinese fortune teller once told me that I will get married this year, but the only guy I've been dating on and off for the past 2 years doesn't want to get married! I would like to settle down and have kids soon, and there is no one else I am interested in dating other than the guy who doesn't want to get married. Do you think the fortune teller is right? He has predicted many other things accurately that happened to me in the last 2 years, but I'm not sure if he is right about my romantic life, since it is already the end of March and I still have not received any marriage proposals! ; ) My birthdate is 8-23-76, and my boyfriend's is 6-21-69. Thanks for your help!

Chinese Fortune-Telling, Card Meanings? i recently learned a chinese fortune-telling game where the teller must shuffle 3times, then the one getting the fortune shuffle 3times as well. the teller makes a pyramid with 6 rows turned down, except the last row of 6. the teller must use the cards to equal 13 (ace=1,jack=11,queen=12,king=13) and put back into the bottom of the deck. if not all can be matched by one another or any cards of the 10 cards the teller lays out, it goes aside. then having the rest of the cards neatly, teller takes one from the back and one from the front to create a pair, but if two cards end up being the same they are put aside. you do this 3times until you have 4 pairs. then the person getting the fortune picks 4 cards (1 card faced down on each pair) and a centre card also faced down (that being the most important). then flip them over to reveal your fortune. the cards are supposed to mean something, like 4 is active, jack is someone behind your back, queen a girlfriend, king a boyfriend/husband. the problem is i forgot the rest. does anyone know this game? what are the card meanings? thanks!

What cultures and religions have a Book of Life? What cultures and religions have the concept of a "Book of Life" wherein the general details of everyone's life past, present and future is outlined and real life tries to approximate what is written as closely as possible. What does it mean if multiple allegedly reputable fortune tellers that are completely unrelated say that you are not as written in the book of life and with the same specific detail. The specific detail is in gender, apparently they would say that in the book of life my mother was destined to have three children, two girls and a boy, the first two would be girls but if the second born was a girl then she would die after giving birth hence to approximate the book of life, I the second born was born as a male so that she would not die and three children, two girls, one boy would be born as foretold. No I don't have any transsexual, cross dressing or even bisexual tendencies though the concept of transsexual operations fascinated me as a child (a local hospital specialized in it and there was a multi-issue special about it in the paper that fascinated me, mostly because of the full page graphic depicting the left half of a nude woman a scalpel and the right half of a nude male, internet porn wasn't available to children in those days, it was the Sears catalog or articles and textbooks on science and biology). The fortune tellers always go on to say that this is very confusing that they cannot accurately interpret my future or what I should do. Some would go as far to say perhaps you should change your sex. Sometimes, I'd be offered a refund. The usual course of the session would be they would say that I'm the third born, to which I would say no second born, then they would say this is very strange, your mother was to have died before you were born, and after a lengthy pause they would say you were supposed to be a girl. My parents said that a professional traditional Chinese reading they had done before immigrating also said the same thing and they said that everything else that fortune teller said has come to pass including a third child as there was only two of us at the time, so much came true that they decided to have all three children's names legally changed to modify our fortunes, my parents say they weren't superstitious till all those predictions came true. The new age fortune teller that I had gone to also nailed obscure details such as when my father would come back from a prolonged contract abroad. She also went on to recommend a large number of books to read on Wicca because something was very odd but powerful about what she was seeing and that I should research it myself. A year later, we went to the same tea house but they had a different fortune teller who used obvious stage tricks such as holding hands over yours so you could feel the energy flowing from them (heat from the palms would be felt) and did the usual cold reading stumbling around, of course a good cold reader wouldn't be obvious and wouldn't be noticed as cold reading. All fortune tellers that would seem anywhere's credible would do the book of life confusion thing to me and would seem genuinely confused, the ones that did not did the obvious stage tricks. The Lotus Sutra seems to be more teachings from Buddha rather than outlines of Life. The others are primarily descriptions of rites and rituals. The Christians have a Book of The Life but it's a list of names of those who have been redeemed and can enter heaven. The closest one other then Twilight Zone short stories that I can think off would be the Greek Fates weaving the threads of life. Are their others?
Chinese...Significance of Names.? Since history began, the Chinese always believed in the significance of one's name. They have developed a very comprehensive system of naming one's children as it is believed that the name of a person strongly influences one's destiny and fate. Astrologers, fortune tellers, academics and monks are consulted when choosing a name for the new born. The other cultures, however do not really believe in it and tend to brush it off as superstition. Whether you believe it or not, however, the other cultures are not spared of this correlation. For example, the Chinese surname LEE (or LI) is associated with power and success such as Lee Kuan Yew, Lee Teng Hui (former Taiwan President), Li Peng (China 's ex PM), Li Ka Shing (HK tycoon) and LEE Iacocca - once Chrysler's chief, and Lee Van Cliff, the actor. Example is Lee Iacocca, whose first IACOCCA stands for: I Am C hairman Of Chrysler Corporation America Coincidence? .......... Look at the following familiar examples: MAHATHIR ( Malaysia's PM): My Assets Halved After The Hit In Ringgit ! SUHARTO (Ex president of Indonesia) : Should U Have Additional Rupiahs, Throw Out! BUSH (American President) : Beat Up Saddam Hussein ! CLINTON : Call Lewinsky, I Need The Oral Now ! However, no one can beat this latest casualty in bad naming : OSAMA: Oh Shit, American Missiles Again!!! With all these, you better believe in the 5000 year old Chinese culture. Make sure we choose good names for our children. WHAT DO YOU THINK? really No money? Gosh "cha tow" already edit : yes I have no idea that's why I just repost these 2 jokes here..hey buddy not meant to be racist bruder...aiya wasted la my 5 points!
Should I change my Chinese name? It is written as 逸航, pronounced "yi-hang", meaning "easy life" and "travelling". I hate it because: 1) It is 200% Masculine, and I'm a woman. 2) It's given by a fortune teller, I don't even believe in those things. 3) I hate the pronunciation. 4) Don't like how it looks. 5) Don't like the meanings at all, ACTUALLY! (I am SICK of travelling, moving every two years from continent to continent growing up! It S*CKS!) 6) plenty other reasons... I wanna change into 知盼 (zhi-pan). It's real pronunciation is impossible to be written in alphabets, but sure it's way pleasant sounding than "zhi-pan" even though this is the most accurate spelling I can give... it's still not accurate. ANyways, the meaning of this name is "knowledge" and "hope". And it's far more feminine and it's beautiful. I also like how it is written! wdyt?
I need someone to translate this in chinese...ASAP!? Translate As much as you can!Sometimes you have to go word by word thats what works best so try and do that. It can be characters but I prefer letters. Trip to the Mall Yesterday, some of my friends and I went shopping at the mall. I went with Bailey, Heaven, Grace, and Katya. First, we went into a name brand store called Hollister. It's very high quality clothing inside, and it's a very nice place. I bought a pink striped shirt with long sleeves. I love pink! We checked out and left. Next, we went to a booth that was a fortune teller. For fun, we went up to it and asked, "What will the climate be tomorrow?" She replied, "There will be mediocre rain tomorrow." We all laughed and looked at the next booth down. It was an ear piercing booth! I ran up and paid and then I got my ears pierced. It was very painful but I have pretty dolphin earrings in there now. Our last stop was a place called the bank. I am going to china next week so I said, "Miss, I want to exchange the money." She said, "How are you? My name is Mary. How much money do you want to exchange?" I said, "Thirty dollars, please." She gave me the money. "Thank you!" I yelled on my way out. It was a fun trip to the mall! By: Lauren Thanks ~~
Tension, disaster, turbulence - welcome to the Year of the Rat? What do you think of the Chinese Prediction? Sounds like Revelations>> HONG KONG (AFP) - The Year of the Rat threatens to see a build-up of international tensions, natural and air disasters, and a more turbulent stock market, soothsayers and analysts say. Yahoo news As the Year of the Pig ends tonight, followers of Chinese superstition will be scurrying to consult fortune-tellers, astrologers and feng shui geomancers to guide their year ahead. Chinese fortunes are based on a belief that events are dictated by the different balances in the elements that make up the earth -- gold, wood, water, fire and earth. Feng shui master Raymond Lo says this year will see the earth element sitting atop water, suggesting an outward solidity built on sliding foundations. "The earth on top is Yang earth which symbolises a mountain, and mountain gives a sense of stability and firmness. But such floating earth in the ocean is weak in foundation and the stability appears to be fragile
Question for fortune tellers skilled in i-ching or other forms of divination involving 3's? There was a love interest that I had and I asked God so many times to speak to me in a dream about him... HIs initials are C.C.... by his name sounds a lot like K.K. So then I had 3 dreams about different situations, and in each dream the character of the story had a name that started with K. 1st dream: Karen who is counterfeit and fraudalent 2nd Dream: Krystal, a chinese prophetess from calgary, the original home of my ex-bf 3rd Dream: Katherine, a blond girl who became pregnant with my ex-boyfriend's child (in the dream only) Notice also that... Both Katherine and Krystal... can be spelled with the letter "C" for Catherine and Crystal... and also that those are the initials of my ex-boyfriend. And I thought... maybe these 3 names are like the 3 results of the iching? Anyone want to take a stab at this...
on i ching? i once believe in fortune tellers for i discovered the chinese laotz has extraordinary insight over the something similar to universal philosophy, thus i also has good impression over taoism,i begin to consult many fortune teller, very surprisingly, soon in the real world, some from the auto-web based service of forcasting from online, well,i also consult palmistry teller, i find all of them can say part of things extraordinary right, and even precise like when where, to what level my status is like or what happen but others not, they can all tell part of the things right, why any tips will be highly appreciated

Which name do you prefer for a girl out of these three? a) 逸航 yi-hang yi- easy way of life (unisex, almost equally used in both gender) hang- to travel (this word is consider 100% masculine in a name) b) 羽媗 yu-shuen yu- feather (It's used in both gender's names) shuen- no particular meaning really. It's used for girl's name. 100% feminine. c) 知盼 zhi-pan zhi- knowledge (60% girly, 40% boyish) pan- hope (same as above girly/boyish) a) Yi-Hang is my actual name. Given by a fortune teller because that's what my paternal grandparents believed. But I seriously don't, being a Christian. b) Yu-Shuen is similar to the name my mother almost named me with. The first part of the name was after my dad, because when I was born, he liked to play badmington (those are made of "feather"). c) Zhi-Pan is a name I came up with myself. Of course I have my western name, but obviously I have a Chinese name too. And now I live in my passport country, not America. I seriously want to change my name... Should I pick Yu-Shuen. It is the most femine out of all. Secondly, (more importantly?) it's given by at least one of my parents, not myself and not a fortune teller (witchcraft!!?) Which one is YOUR favorite? Yu-Shuen? (not Yi-Hang or Zhi-Pan right?) I'm not sure... I know it is "their" ("our"? idk anymore since i have an identity crisis? I'm raised multi-culturally) tradition, but according to the Bible, it's ALL "witchcraft"......... Well, ANYWAYS... not the main point here. I despise names given by fortune tellers. It's nothing meaningful to the parents (the names the fortune tellers pick), but people believe certain number of strokes in the characters control your future. (It's total witchcraft.. after all..) Only God controls our future...
What does this "your corespondent" refer to? Here is a paragraph excerpted from a article of The Economists: So what are China’s prospects? According to official figures, China’s economy grew by 11.9% in the year to the first quarter, raising fears of overheating. The Board’s leading economic index increased a little in March, thanks to the 153m square metres of floorspace started that month. But China-watchers should not read too much into a single month, the Board cautions. In April the authorities clamped down on property speculation. And judged over a six-month period (see chart), Chinese growth is not getting much stronger. AS FOR YOUR CORRESPONDENT, according to the fortune-teller he will do well financially. But unlike China, he will spend money too liberally to accumulate much wealth. I was wondering what "your correspondent" refers to here. Is the the author of this article or someone else? Here is the source article: http://www.economist.com/business-finance/displaystory.cfm?story_id=16168197 Thank you so much! Thanks, Ms. Goddess. :) . Just another question, is it the standard way in a news article this way to address the writer himself "your correspondent"? I know there is some rule about writing news report, i.e., avoiding using first person pronouns to address the writer himself. So is original use of "your correspondent" an exemplification of some rule like this? Thank you again!
How do I convince my superstitious parents? I want to have a puppy, I have been asking for one for long time. I live with my parents in a flat, I'm a chinese and buddhist, so my parents are kinda superstitious. I was close to getting a puppy when my dad went to this fortune teller whom he said that guy is very true, and that guy told him that in my life, I clash with people with the chinese zodiac of dog, and I cant marry someone who the chinese zodiac of dog OR take care of the puppy, or I'll suffer in the future. I'm really upset about this, I've been telling him that a dog cant possibly determined my life, like it so ridiculous? I really need some help. I'm fifteen living in tiny red dot singapore. I'm asking for advices to convince them, so no point telling NOT to get them. And I'm adopting, not buying, the poor soul I wanna adopt is gonna be put to sleep by 14 March. That is why I'm asking for advices! Hello rayven, thats NOT an advice, even if it is, it isnt helping at all. Thanks for answering.
prayer request please? Hi everyone, i found out that my grandmother was diagnosed with stage 3 or 4 lung cancer. she was also born with heart disease and battling with type 2 diabetes. she lives in China so they really believe in the fortune teller, life teller kinda stuff. and i think they went to 2 different ones (both represented by different people) and they both said she'd pass when she's 72 or 73. that could either be her regular birthday, or the other one that chinese people go by, which kinda includes the time you are in the womb, so it's one year older than you really are. she's turning 72 soon, or 73 in the other way. people may say it's silly, but in my life it has been accurate. i don't want to believe it but ... i'm going to visit her tomorrow. and i want to ask you guys to pray for her and our entire family. and i'm praying that God will open the door and I will be able to speak to her about Jesus. Because sometimes I don't even feel like I'm qualified to tell other people that when I'm battling inside as well. and also pray for health of healing. whether she's going to heaven or hell I don't want her to go. It's selfish but I don't want my family to go through that, especially since my mom won't have the chance to see her everyday or to take care of her. I pray that she will accept Christ and so will the rest of my family, it might be one step at a time, but as long as its done, right? I pray that she will not be suffering with the battles, I pray that her health will improve and not worsen. I pray that the conditions of our family members will be well kept the day that someone leaves. she's had breast cancer before, I don't think the cancer is in her bones, but they say pretty much all of her lungs (idk if that's one or both) are cancerous and it has expanded. please keep her in your prayers.
what will happen to us? ok all Jokes aside, I have seen lots of stuff that points to the World Ends in Two Years, now I know there are people saying ya ya ya what ever its all bull, but I have recently noticed a lot of media coverage regarding this and some prophecies have seemingly come true. It is unofficial, but a strong rumor nevertheless: the world will end in two years' time due to the arrival of a huge comet and its subsequent impact with Earth. I was told by a fortune teller 9 years ago (before 2012 was even know publicly) that I will die when I am 37which happens to be in 2012, (plus everywhere I look I see the number 37, car reg’s, newspapers and even here in china while im working, in fact while im in china I saw an entire 2 block of buildings were plastered with the number 37 honest to god im not kidding) The myians , Chinese Jews and pretty much every other religion have for once agreed it will happen and even the history channel have suddenly released stuff on TV, books are suddenly being written, So if the world is going then why isn’t the government doing anything or is it too late and if they are what are they doing. I mean look at the world War in 60% of the world, Economy gone bust Swine flu comes from no where kills many ALL OVER THE WORLD, In the town where the swine flu started an entire baby school (all under 2 yrs old) mysteriously burns down killing all inside The pope has pissed every one off Insects and some animals are disapeering We are running out of fuel and natural recourses We won’t give free medicines because it would over populate the planet so for this reason it’s ok to commit mass genocide? And tell me if you agree with this Id we ever did get off this rock we would in fact become the monstrous invading alien to the first world we find (see America, Australia India for this example) So can any one shed some light on what’s going on, genuine answers please? well if it does happen i can now at least smile when it hits us as i will know many could maybe be proved wrong and ill prob hear a single voice of billions scream out "oh my god that nutter was right" lol well some thing to look foward to i guess

Should I change my name? (into the name I almost had but didn't?)? My Chinese name. I am Taiwanese. My mother told me that she had wanted to name me Yu-shuen, which means feather and a type of plant. But then my father's parents wanted the fortune teller to give me the name. It was a totally masculine name, Yi-hang, meaning an easy way of lifestyle and travelling. I carried a man's name for the first part of my life! I definitely hate it. I have been wondering (many times in my life already) what would be like if I was named Yu-shuen, something totally diferent from the name I actually have now, and a name which is more genderly correct for me?? I just want to get rid of my boyish name. Too many choices would be better than this name. I actually think I'm going to do it (change it) for real. But my qs now is: Should I change "back"? to the name my mother once wanted me to have, or just pick up another one. I think this decision doesn't mostly have to do with whether that Yu-shuen was a good name or not. I mean, it is decent, not too unconventional nor too common. It's feminine, sounds good, etc. It is okay. The point to changing "back" to that name is that I wonder how the first two decades of my life would have been different if I carried that name? Not this boyish name? I am VERY sure that this boyish name I've carried had shaped me a lot. People always say how unique it is. It does stand out, but in a way that actually doesn't serve me! And people keep saying it's very unisex, a polite way to say "you have a boy's name!" There are actually many different characters that pronounce the same (written differently and with different meanings) I know the characters my mother picked. I want to stay with the same "yu" meaning feather, but a different word for "shuen" (same sound, but another character). They look alike but not really... The meaning differs as well... Good idea? wdyt? Ironically, I don't get along with my family members and I have already moved out. Me and my parents live in different countries now. I am using the name my mother wished to give me more than two decades ago, would people think that I want to honor her that way? Maybe deep inside! Yes!... This is just so ironical... My family was way more united when I was a baby, but throughout the years, it had falling apart... I am starting a new life now... with a new name... but I sort of want to use the name I almost had but didn't? what do you guys think?? : (
Should I change my name "back" to the name I almost had but didn't? I am starting a new life now... with a new name... but I sort of want to use the name I almost had but didn't? what do you guys think?? : ( thank you for your time reading my story, haha.. but there's one thing you had assumed wrong.. My parents aren't divorced. They are still together today. It's me who cut myself off the family. Anyways... This is typical of people from my country to seek the fortune tellers when it comes to names... 95% or up of the popularity get their name from a fortune teller. My mother said she picked "yu" (meaning feather), the first half of the name because my father liked to play badmington (which in the Chinese language, literally is called "feather ball" lol... well, the name for badmington in Chinese has the word "yu" in it!... so............... Yeah~

I would be thankful!!! Thx Fortune-tellers promise luck and good business- TV without luck symbols written by Julia Lietsch Peking - Multicolored and according to as in the Karneval, which reaches its high point in Germany today with climax of the German carnival celebrations, it happened on weekend also in China: At the night to Sunday the Chinese welcomed the “year of the pig”. Millions of Chinese had already prepared the New Year and spring celebration for several days. With overflowing suit-cases the Chinese made themselves on the journey to visit their relatives. In addition belong million from migratory workers , who return once in the year to their family on the country. On the roads of Peking the cars advanced more slowly than otherwise, the authorities could hardly be attainable by the telephone. That means so much how: “Deliver gifts and invite people ” and belongs to the spring celebration like the fireworks and the red money envelope for the children.
What do you think of this significance names? Since history began, the Chinese always believed in the significance of one's name. They have developed a very comprehensive system of naming one's children as it is believed that the name of a person strongly influences one's destiny and fate. Astrologers, fortune tellers, academics and monks are consulted when choosing a name for the new born. The other cultures, however do not really believe in it and tend to brush it off as superstition. Whether you believe it or not, however, the other cultures are not spared of this correlation. For example, the Chinese surname LEE (or LI) is associated with power and success such as Lee Kuan Yew, Lee Teng Hui (former Taiwan President), Li Peng ( China 's ex PM), Li Ka Shing (HK tycoon) and LEE Iacocca - once Chrysler's chief, and Lee Van Cliff, the actor. One very good example is Lee Iacocca, whose last name IACOCCA stands for: I Am Chairman Of Chrysler Corporation America Coincidence? .......... Look at the following familiar examples: MAHATHIR ( Malaysia 's PM): My Assets Halved After The Hit In Ringgit ! SUHARTO (Ex president ofIndonesia) : Should U Have Additional Rupiahs, Throw Out! BUSH (American President) : Beat Up Saddam Hussein ! CLINTON : Call Lewinsky, I Need The Oral Now ! However, no one can beat this latest casualty in bad naming : OSAMA: Oh Shit, American Missiles Again!!! Gindy: Very funny! Eathereal: The person above just did it! Fossi: LOL I like that..so whenever i'm in luv i have to scratch?
