what does the upright and reverse meanings for tarot cards mean?

i just bought some tarot cards and in the booklet it says 2 meanings. the reverse and upright? eg.The Fool Upright: New beginnings, new adventures, new opportunities, unlimited possibilities, pleasure, passion, thoughtlessness, rashness Reverse: A bad decision, indecision, apathy, hesitation, a faulty choice which one should i use and why do they have 2 different meanings.

  1. depending on how your spread is some card might be reversed then you get the reversed explanation....
  2. It means that the meaning of the card changes whether it's right-side up or upside-down when you deal it out.
  3. Obverse- Death- where the ground is at the bottom- Change. Reverse- Death- stagnation.
  4. Don't fool around with the Tarot!
  5. there are many who provide a different meaning in reverse but my belief here is the reversed position represents a lack or block to the positive. in a reading if the fool comes up next to the celebration 3 cups, it is likely that a new beginning will bring joy. if the fool is reversed in front of the 3 cups it may be that you need to create a new beginning to experience the joy, or you are reluctant to initiate something new compromising your ability to enjoy a coming together or celbration.
