- They are just paper, get over it.
- I've heard that too, but how would you prove that they aren't working? Nobody has been able to answer that for me.
- Just my opinion, but I suspect they don't really work no matter how you obtain them
- yes its true like www.peteranswers.com its a trick
- I didn't buy myself my Tarot cards, I was given to them by my sister and mine work fine.. I was actually really suprised but almost everything they said happened!
- I have almost always bought my own. It took me three or four decks before I finally found one that worked for me. The important thing is to find one that you can really relate to and feel comfortable with. It doesnt matter where it comes from. Sometimes you just need to try with a few till one feels natural.
- No, that's not true. I know quite a few readers who are constantly on the lookout for decks that appeal to them. Seems like they always use the same one or two though. LOL Decks bought as gifts can work just as well. Either way, the important thing is that you feel some "connection" to the deck.
- No, that's not true. In fact take your tarot cards wrap them in a silk scarf and put them under your pillow for three nights. You will become more in tune with them and they with you.
- Is it true they don't work anyway? Yes.
- Not al all! They work quite well. What IS important however, is that you keep the cards as yours. It's ok to let others handle them if you're doing a reading for them, but don't allow others to use them to play around with. The deck should list some things you can do to keep the cards "pure." Have fun and enjoy. If you haven't done readings before, you may be suprised at how fast you pick up on the meanings of the cards.
- No, it is not true that tarot cards purchased for yourself will not work. I have been reading Tarot for over 28 years. . . and have purchased many decks for myself. . . and they work.
- I dont believe in tarot cards either. Give me a thumbs-down for being intelligent, logical, and realistic.
- The top left card represents the first possible outcome. Nine of Pentacles (Gain), when reversed: Threat to safety. Roguery. Dissipation. Danger. Storms. Bad faith. Possible loss of a valued friendship or a treasured possession. The top right card represents the second possible outcome. Three of Cups (Abundance), when reversed: Excessive pleasures. Overabundance. Superfluity. Loss of prestige. Delays. Unappreciation. The middle left card represents the force drawing you towards the first possible outcome. The Devil: Ravage. Bondage. Malevolence. Subservience. Downfall. Lack of success. Weird experience. Bad influence or advice. Black magic. Unexpected failure. Seeming inability to realize one's goals. Dependence that leads to unhappiness. Controversy. Violence. Shock. Fatality. Temptation to evil. Regression. Self-destruction. Disaster. Astral influence. The tearing apart of one's self-expression to such an extent that the person becomes ineffectual. An Ill-tempered person. Lack of humor except at another's expense. Lack of principles. The middle right card represents the force drawing you towards the second possible outcome. Five of Wands (Strife), when reversed: Trickery. Contradictions. Complexity. Involvement. Caution against indecision. The bottom card represents the critical factor that decides what will come to pass. Death, when reversed: Stagnation. Immobility. Slow changes. Partial change. Inertia. Narrowly avoiding a serious accident.
- No. the tradition is to receive them from and elder witch, but you can buy them yourself and they still work quite well.
- They just don't work on you. I got my own, and they work fine on everyone I use them for. You can't tell your own future. only a cyclops can do that, and they can only see when they die.
- No this is not true. As nice as it is to be given tarot cards, it's what calls to you that counts. If you find a deck that you seem to be drawn to then buy it. It is the deck that you need and it will work for you no matter who bought it. Blessed Be
- I heard that also, but no it is wrong. If you receive them as a gift it means they are the ones you should use, but you may buy your own. I've given them as gifts to others but mine I bought back in 1977. Mine work fine.
- Hello That is just one of many nonsense superstitions, take no notice of it. You have to use them so you should be the one to get them, or at least choose the deck that you wish. Sadhara
- It rather depends upon what you want to use them for. If you want them to tell you the future, then no, I don't think they'll work. But I don't think they would do that in any circumstance - it seems to me that reverse causation, which is implied in fortune telling, is not a logically possibility. On the other hand, if you want to use them as they were originally intended, for playing cards games, that's another story. I buy my own and they work just fine for that! If you want to look at the philosophy of time, then I usually suggest D H Mellor's "Real Time II" published by Routledge. It makes a very good introduction and is not too heavy on formal logic. A related book, though a little harder to read, is Mellor's "The Facts of Causation". If you want to try the games, then I suggest either: http://www.pagat.com or: http://www.tarocchino.com And I guarantee no ill effects if you buy your own cards.
