is it true that you are not suppose to buy your own Tarot cards that they have to be gifted to you ???

- I find they work better if you buy your own deck and it calls to you. My first deck was given to me and it didn't work for me it kept giving confusing readings. I bought one of my own and it's the easiest deck i've ever read with.
- I have heard this as well. And same as with the first poster, the first deck I was given was a gift and didn't suit me (no pun intended!) But I found a deck (Osho Zen Tarot) that I really loved and bought it myself and have never had problems w/it.
- It is suppose to be a gift to you. I received mine as a gift and it works wonders.
- nup never heard of that before. :P
- Tarot Cards.... Shmarot Cards They are only bits of cardboard with odd pictures on them They are as usefull/useless as a Corn Flake packet
- I believe you should let your cards pick you. One owner is the best.
- Bullcrap
- i have bought some tarot cards(the lord of the rings) but i don't use them i'm afraid i'll take them out the order they're in
- piffle. They best thing to do is make them yourself. Giving a gift of Tarot these days is weird and doesn't exactly flow with how our world works. I say if you see a set of tarot and you want them, buy them. You won't have them gifted away by your spouse (normally), you won't have them asked for back by the friend who gave them to you when the two of you no longer see eye to eye, and its the set you wanted you are bound to see the symbolism there. Tarot is just a tool for divination. What you tell yourself doesn't matter a bit to me, whether the gods guide your eyes and tongues or whether you make up a blind and cold response.....all in all it all comes down to how YOU interprept the card, not how the manual says. They are yours. I do mine with normal pl;aying cards.....who's gonna' give me a set of playing cards when I can buy them from Walmart for 3 bucks.
- there is no rule about tarot's although i have heard that you are supposed to be given your tarot cards, but i've also heard that you can go and buy your own and when you do you will be drawn to it.... i've bought myself alot of tarot decks and am starting to have a collection but i still havn't come across the right one... to be honest i don't even think i should rely too much on my tarot cards but on myself and my feelings alot more... until the right deck comes to me...
- no rule except that to be effective 'You' have to be able to read/interperet them.
- I have heard that but never believed it. Not everyone connects with the same cards so really the reader needs to pick their own cards.
- It's an old myth among Tarot novices that your first deck must be given as a gift, or that it's somehow bad luck to buy your own deck. There is nothing wrong with obtaining your own set of Tarot cards -- and that way you can choose a style and art that is compatible with your tastes.
- I have never heard this before. I bought my decks. I felt the cards calling me. Now we work wonderfully together.
