Can anyone tell me why tarot is seen as a bad thing?

I've been reading through a lot of questions in the religion and spirituality section in relation to tarot and i've noticed that a lot of people have a very bad view of those who read tarot or tarot cards in general, and not to pick on anyone but a lot of 'questions and answers' i've seen seem to come from christian members of this site. i don't understand, of all the time i've used my tarot cards i've never associated them with religion in any way, or 'god', or 'the devil', nor have i ever read about tarot being 'demon-praise' as i read in one answer. never heard (or read) anyone 'badmouthing' tarot use until now, its completely unheard of to me....i'm baffled...and thats not easy... Am i missing something? Whats the history here? I'd love to understand this from someone's point of view from the other side of the fence..where does the bad image come from? hang on a sec fully alive 888, lets not forget the question, my question was mainly that i'd never heard anything negative about tarot so whats the deal? since when did you take it upon yourself to decide that i need help? or whether i want an eternal life with the one you call HIM? or that i need saving? and from what exactly...being open-minded? just who exactly do you think you are? i purposely made an effort not to step on anyones toes when i wrote this question, so show some respect and don't step on mine.

Tarot is generally considered divination or tied to witchcraft, which is frowned upon by the Bible (and therefore by many Christians).
I believe the depiction of the Tarot as 'evil' dates back to the smear campaign ran against paganism during the spread of Christianity centuries ago.
For the Jew and the Christian, it is anethema (cursed), because God said that we should not go after other gods, do not talk to them, do not consult them. "Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean to your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him..." The Bible is clear that we are to seek guidance from God alone, and no other. The devil can appear as an angel of light, and you don't know who is REALLY guiding the cards!
Deuteronomy 18 (book in bible) says divination is bad - BUT all through the bible the kings and leaders call on spiritists and witches to help them - I love reading the tarot and it helps me!

the tarot were originally used as a means of preserving gnostic beliefs, so predictably, the catholic church labeled them "heresy". christianity just seems to have held on to this false belief over time.

Any type of fortune telling is associated with Satan. It is condemned in the Old Testament. The witch was to be killed in the old law. Tarot is a tool of a witch.
It has nothing to do with the devil. Religion keeps the sheep in a straight line. So you see anything that is out of the norm makes people nervous. It has to do with intuition, psychic ability, and fate. If you worry in life about pleasing everyone dear you will have to ask everyones approval and then you get mixed up because some other people dont approve. Find your own truth in life. Find what feels right to you and go for it. It is not bad it is the close minded puritan views...
From a religious point of view, if they are not from god then they are evil. From my point of view, they have never been proven to actually work and have been throughly shown be a total sham. Even if I were to give them historical credit, coming out with "Native American" or "Celtic" decks just showed that they are nothing more than paper or card stock.

"So Saul died for his unfaithfulness which he had committed against the Lord, because he did not keep the word of the Lord, and also because he consulted a medium for guidance" (1 Chronicles 10:13). Modern celebrations of Halloween may appear on the surface to be quite harmless, but the spiritual implications of dabbling with the spirit world are extremely serious. Fortune-telling (tarot cards), Ouija boards, telepathy, astrology, voodoo, clairvoyance, black magic and such can all be related to occult, satanic forces or the worship of natural phenomena and are forbidden in Scripture. Jesus Christ tells us that "the first and greatest commandment" is to love our Creator "with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind" (Matthew 22:37-38). God alone is the giver of life and all good things. To give recognition to false gods, and to imitate practices that honored them, is unacceptable and idolatrous.

there is nothing wrong with tarot cards, they have nothing to do with the christian 'devil' evil spirits, etc etc etc. Father k, if your fond of reading, try a dictionary. occult means nothing more than 'hidden' . as far as I'm aware the bible says nothing about hidden things being evil.
I think when his wife left him and he left Capital Radio he's only really had Millionaire to fall back on. The fact it's changed its format to re-attract viewers shows its a show on its way out.
It is a bad thing to believe in nonsense. Forget the Xtian hypocrisy, Tarot is bad because it is complete pile of horseshit, and represents the counter-enlightenment, anti-truth and anti-reason!
i'm telling you this to honestly help you. i know from expresience that everything that has to do with tarot cards is not good for you. Anytime when trying to connect with that spirit world, it is all evil. the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of TRUTH. All the other spirits are evil. The devil is blinding you and others from seeing its true form. The LORD saved me a few months ago. He literally turned me around. My family are amazed by the change in me. he took me out of the darkness and brought me into his everlasting light. Just before he saved me i was starting to get into all that stuff and even wanted to buy one of those crystal balls. I mean i was slipping down and getting tarot card readings and just falling for it. See, then i didn't know that those things were that bad either, but still kept praying for the lord to help me and let me know what was going on in my life at that time. i was just always searching for answers and ended up lookin in the wrong places. these cards can't save you and they can't help you either. even if you say your just doing them for fun. they end up hurting you, when you don't even realize it, but it does. But when you seek The LORD only and call upon his name, The LORD can help you and save you and bring you everlasting LIFE in heaven with him! That bad stuff i used to own , I threw away. My desires had changed and no longer wanted anything to do with my old evil desires that i used to have. There completely GONE! I could never live without the LORD now, knowing all that he did for me. He opened my eyes and took that veil away, that the devil had pulled over me. The devil BLINDS people from the TRUTH, So that they can't be saved by it. Please, believe me when i'm telling you this, I know, I've been there. 2 Timothy 4:3 For there is going to come a time when people won't listen to the truth, but will go around looking for teachers who will tell them what they want to hear. The Lord will be coming, and He is giving everyone a chance to recieve his gift.(Enternal Salvation) Don't waste your time, turn to the Lord now, because this life is very short and is like breathe to God, So Follow the Lord and he will lead you through the storm. John 8:12 Jesus says " I'am the LIGHT of the WORLD. So, if you follow me, you won't be stumbling through the darkness, for the LIVING LIGHT will flood your path. I hope you at least think long and hard about what i've said.

You must understand unless you are in their little small minded club you are stupid. The tarot is something you must be ready to defend. For years the secrets of the tarot were kept among the travellers and the mystics but now they are running because of their ignorance. I personally love this form of prediction its fun and safe. I also need to tell you God and the Devil do not appear in Tarot if you do not believe in their God. The only thing tat will appear is what you believe in. Pagans do not have a word for the Devil he does not exist only people are evil
Tarot is nothing but a tool to allow you to look at a situation thru a different perspective. I have many many decks based on many beliefs from Christian, Buddhist, pagan, Wicca, Native American, Santeria, Voodoo, dragons, Celts, Druids, Goddesses and i can go on and on. So religion does not enter into the cards. Just the user and their intent. To me tarot is no different than a hammer, book, pen, ink or even this very computer or any more harmful than talking to your friends over a pizza and problem. If you knew a friend had deep mental problems i am sure you would not send them to church to get help but to a doctor. I would send them to a shrink or a counselor to assist them not break out my tarot cards and say i am going to cure them. However it can be abused like alcohol or gambling. So don't get fooled by those who profess to clear you of curses and sell you a special oil in the back just for you for $19.95. Just remember religion is is based on MANS belief on what he THINKS god said not necessarily what is the truth.
THE Christian Religious Mainstream be they Protestant or Catholic-- in the main--Believe and thereby Contend that God is Static and unchanging and can be consulted via a set of words often referred to as The Word of God.
