  1. Yes... my first bit of advice is ignore all the response that follow who say its "evil" Its the equivalent of saying ... "Don't go into the forest ... evil resides in there..." I am also learning the tarot ...
  2. I used to but don't any more. It will give you answers to the physical world, which is 1% of existence. It's like having a good steak and immediately after that you are sluggish, bloated and cannot look another steak in the eye for a while. 99% is spirit and that you will only learn directly from God.
  3. i read them.. you need a good bot to start out... one of the best books and this is no joke the complete idiot's guide to tarot. i have loots of books on it but for beginners that is the best one. try it.
  4. Tarot cards first developed in the 1400s as a card game with four suits and a set of trumps. The card game is still played in France, Italy and various parts of Europe. Tarot cards were first used for fortune telling in the late 18th century when they were introduced to England by gypsy mediums who used the novel cards to impress the bored and jaded English upper class. Tarot cards have no psychic connection to anything. You can learn the supposed meanings given to each card, the meanings vary depending on who you are learning them from, but the 'reading' of cards is an act that must be developed and practiced over time to draw in the unsuspecting client.
  5. Yes. I can read Tarot cards and learned how to do it about 20 years ago. The cards help you focus your attention in a different way so that you can be more intuitive. There is no power in the cards, they are only tools. To be a good card reader, find a deck that you like and handle them and study the images often. Become familiar with the traditional meanings of the cards but also do an exercise often whereby you look at each card and think about what that card means to you--how it makes you feel when you look at it. In this way, you create your own vocabulary about the cards. Then think about doing a reading for someone (the someone doesn't have to be with you). Just think about that person when you layout a card spread. Look at the cards and jot down your impressions (any thoughts or feelings that come to mind while looking at the cards). Read over and revise you notes until they make up a little story. If you do these exercises, in time, you may become a good card reader. PS Mr. Mato (above) has got it right about the history of the cards. I have similar notes in essay on Tarot cards on my 360 blog, but those essays are on the way back pages of the blog. Might be too laborious to find.
  6. Hello Bird I learned to read the Tarot many years ago & I now teach them. I brought all the book that I could afford & I used them everyday, nearly threw them out a few times too. It is a long journey, but an enlightening one. Pam join my group if you wish, you can ask any question you wish about the tarot & your development.
  7. philosophyangel is 100 % correct!! :) I too have been reading for over 20 years. Got my first deck (rider waite - easy for beginers) when I was 17. A good book to start with, I would suggest 'Tarot Made Easy' by Nancy Garen. I liked Nancy because she does not read cards reversed (upside down). Even though I did for many years, it never 'felt' right to me. I always 'felt' that there were enough negative cards in a deck to work with. But all of this goes along with what philosophyangel was saying. The 'tarot' is a tool for focus. The answers come from within and without. You'll want to do readings frequently for yourself, friends, family for practice. The more you do the better you will get.
