- Think twice the path you are about to walk
- Use the Force. Oh and learn how to convince people your not lying when you really are.
- DONT! Lev.19:31 "`Do not turn to mediums or seek out spiritists, for you will be defiled by them. I am the LORD your God. Lev.20:6 "`I will set my face against the person who turns to mediums and spiritists to prostitute himself by following them, and I will cut him off from his people.
- There is a group called the door opener. Do a google search and that will bring you to a web site. On the website, there should be a link that brings you to the places wehre that community does different seminars. Or you could also just go get a reading done and if you like what you hear, ask that person if they would be willing to help you or if they could refer you somewhere that you could get started. Good Luck!
- NO! Occult teachings CAN be taught by a teacher, but it is much better to buy a deck of your own (one that you can relate to), and just read them. You have to get a feel and a meaning for them all your own. A teacher can tell you how to read and take care of them when not in use, but the work is still up to what you put into it. Practice, practice, practice and study them!
- Barnes & Noble teaches an online course. But if you want the personal touch, I would start by pulling out the Yellow Pages and looking under Metaphysical for occult stores. Visit them and ask the proprietors if they know of any tarot classes in the area. You can also check any alternative or community newspapers for ads or event listings. You can also google, but you'll run into out-of-date ads that you'll have to dig through.
- Learinging about the tarot is not about learning to communicate with spirits or mediums--it is about looking at archetypal images and using those to gain info or insight about a cetain situation--sort of like--you see what you need to see--a person who reads tarot is helping the other person do that--synchronicity is a big part of this--There are many books on tarot--buy the basic deck first--a Rider-Waite deck--start with that--and then just start reading andearning--you will be led to other books and teachers when the time is right--tarot is about learning about yourself--not about controlling the future, etc..Good luck on your path...
- Having been a Reader for 25 years now, I agree with many of the Answerers. I think you need to put a great deal of thought into what and whom you're going to trust. A New mind is very easy to bend. Go to a New Age store or a bookstore that sells tarot decks. Find one you're comfortable with. You'll know it when you walk into it. Don't take the first one you see. Trust your gut. Your heart and your head will lead you wrong but that little niggling feeling in your gut will rarely bring you harm. Trust that. Find a store your comfortable with then find your deck. Don't let anyone tell you someone else has to buy you your first deck. I've heard that lie too many times. You can buy your deck when and if you choose to. You just have to find it. Pick the deck up and handle it. don't open it, don't play with the cards. Listen to your gut. When you've found it, buy it. Buy the book that goes with it or find someone you trust *implicitly* (completely) to teach you. You don't need to be a "tarot-apprentice" You can learn quite well on your own but there are good folk out there who will teach. You just have to find them. Please just be careful. We, who are older and who've been there before, want to see you not make the same mistakes we've made. We want you to be safe. Blessings.
- I would advise you to stay away from such matters; the words contained in the Bible may not mean anything to you, but you should still consider that the reading of tarot cards etc... can only open doors in your life to and unfathomable realm...
- Odd that we would find bible waving zealots in Mythology and folklore. Well, no matter. The best advice I can give is to find a tarot reader near you that does not keep referencing the books. Then ask to apprentice.
- I'm not going to go in-depth into Tarot here on Yahoo. However, if you feel like it, you can look me up if you want to practice your Tarot reading skills. I am a fan of Tarot too. Just to answer those who are afraid of the occultic nature of tarot - here's my input...Tarot contains many symbols that tie in with Christian legends.
- Aside from learning from someone one on one, I highly recommend the following website. And if you have the inclination, I also recommend buying the book as it is excellent. http://learntarot.com/ Hope this helps. BB )O(
- actually a tarot deck should be given to you. it's one of those things that finds you. ya know? you can't force something like this. if you must know something, then i suggest you go to a metaphysical shop and talk to them in person.
- You don't necessarily need to learn from someone else in person. There can be pitfalls in just relying on one person anyway--especially if that person is just thinking of money or their ego. There are also many people who pass around false information about Tarot, such as that myth that you have to be gifted a deck in order to use it. Not true. If this were actually the case, a large majority of us who use the Tarot would be waiting our whole lives for our first deck. This myth, along with others, were first started by those who were trying to stop others from using the Tarot. The best thing is to just go with the flow and learn as you go. Follow your heart. Be open-minded yet wary of people. Be careful of those who state that you must follow certain *rules*. There is a wealth of Tarot knowledge out there waiting for you, you just have to do your homework. For advice, tips, discussion, and help in studying the Tarot check out AT at http://www.tarotforum.net I can't recommend this place enough--it has been around for years. It is full of generous, kind people from around the world. There are oodles of discussions over there regarding decks, spreads, Tarot history and symbolism, readings, stories, etc. There is also a comprehensive deck review and guide section along with card samples. There is also a terrific Tarot podcast out there called The Tarot Connection. It's at http://www.tarotconnection.net The podcasts are free. You can listen to them through your computer or just download them onto a CD or your MP3 player. If you find it easier, you can also access these podcasts at http://feeds.feedburner.com/TheTarotConnection Both of these resources can help you link up with others in a group setting. There are seminars, classes, and meetups around. Plus, don't forget to check out the reviews at amazon regarding tarot books and cards. There are also a few DVD at amazon geared toward learning the Tarot. In my One Spirit book club I purchased The Tarot Discovery Kit by Amy Zerner and Monte Farber which includes a deck, bag, guidebook, and an interactive DVD. Good luck and don't be afraid to march to the beat of your own drum!
- If you are using Tarot cards as an oracle, you may be more inclined to read card meanings and spreads. But if using Tarot Cards as a tool for Psychic Ability you would be less likely to hold to any hard and fast guide lines. I’m a profession psychic and use Tarot Cards in a random way. In 25 years of professional readings I’ve never used any ‘meanings, spreads or reversals’ of tarot cards from any books. So if you want to develop ‘Psychic Ability’ throw the books and guidelines away and let the images inspire you. But you may need to try the Rider Waite or another imaged deck. I believe we are all psychic, but for the majority the gift or the belief has been long knocked out of them. Educated out is another way of looking at it. Many professional psychics have grown up in a psychic friendly environment. Perhaps a grand-parent or parent with the knowledge has helped bring the extra sense out in the open and encouraged its use. But there are as many practicing psychics who have not had the benefit of caring psychic guidance and who have still managed to develop and hone this natural extra sense. The Psychic Sense. To tap in to it more you can go to my free develop-psychic-ability page here: http://www.psychic-junkie.com/develop-psychic-ability.html But on the other hand, if you want to use the Tarot as an oracle, a form of divination that needs no real ‘psychic ability’, then keep the books and use the meanings and spreads if you prefer. Here is a free download demo for a great Tarot program. To keep the size of the demo manageable it contains the Rider/Waite deck, the actual program will have 10 complete decks. This Demo version of Tarot is a full working copy for 30 days. So you get 30 days to study meanings and spreads! http://www.free-tarot-download-demo.wotsnext.com
