What do the characters mean on the Wheel of Fortune (Waite) tarot card?
I know what the letters (R-O-T-A) mean and what the alchemal symbols on the spokes of the wheel mean, but what is the significance of the characters in between? http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/c/ca/Major_10.jpg

- its referred to as a tetragrammaton. they're the hebrew letters for "Yod Heh Vav Heh " http://www.biblecodedigest.com/img/1006BCDyahweh.gif יהוה <<--- looks like this , its the name of the god of israel. hebrew is written from left to right, but read from right to left, so the first letter is Heh, second is Vav, third is Heh, and last is Yod. but its read as Yod Heh Vav Heh
- Hello In the 4 corners are four creatures from the visualisation of Ezekiel & also appear in Revelations, they are known as the Guardians of Heaven. They represent Air, Water, Earth & Fire, also the four fixed signs of the zodiac - Scorpio, Leo, Taurus & Aquarius, as well as the four elements of the four suits of the minor arcana - Swords, Cups, Pentacles & Wands. The snake represents Set, the Egyptian god of death. Travelling up the wheel is Anubis who guides dead souls & brings rebirth. On top of the wheel is a sphinx representing resurrection & rebirth. Pam
