How authentic are Tarot Card Readings?

Public Comments

  1. zippo
  2. They are as good as you believe them to be.
  3. about the same as owning the Brooklyn bridge
  4. If you mean how "accurate" it depends on the readers observation of you and what you tell them.
  5. Spot on. In my experience they were the 1 & only time I had them read, never repeated it tho. I prefer suprises.
  6. The thing with tarot readings is that they are puposefully vague. A good tarot reader is someone who is perceptive enough to pick up on the subtle cues of their customers and know how and when to 'direct' them. You will notice that a tarot reader will ask questions, a lot of them have a set formula of questions that they will ask that represent a 'tree' of questions so that they can narrow down subjects by following certain branches. They will also present variables, like: the seven of swords could represent this... or that.... all the while looking for cues. Watch the reader as they look more at the customer than at the cards themselves. The customer is taken in by the glamour of having participated in the process... selecting their own cards, confirming patterns... the subjects are purposefullv vague so that they can relate to anyone, and when the customer thinks that they are on some 'track' they get excited, and this leads to further ease of subtle manipulation by the reader. so to ansewer your question directly: They are not authentic, not in the sence that the reader or the cards have prescience... The best way to get a tarot reading is to do it yourself. That way you are only suceptibe to your own manipulation. You are, however susceptible to your own secret desires of what you want to hear. If I want a dark reading about death and sorrow, I can get the pattern to emerge... If I want a positive reading, the pattern can be easily percieved.
