- Carlos Castaneda. Some say it is about the real thing... others say it is anther 'Harry Potter'. Great read. The Teachings of Don Juan: A Yaqui Way of Knowledge (1968) A Separate Reality: Further Conversations with Don Juan (1971) Journey to Ixtlan: The Lessons of Don Juan (1972) Magical Passes: The Practical Wisdom of the Shamans of Ancient Mexico (compilation) (1998)
- I promise that you will love this book. The Donovan Legacy by Nora Roberts. It is about 3 powerful witches that are cousins.
- Following make great reads: Books by Dan Brown Books by Agatha Cristie The Lord of the Rings Chronicles of Narnia Trust me, all these books match your choice. Our choice is quite similaR!
- the bible
- The Narnia Chronicals. by C.S. Lewis The Discworld Novels by Terry Pratchett The Lord of the Rings, and the Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien Tales of the Otori by Lian Hearn Anything by Tamora Pierce which is set in Tortall or surrounding world. Faerie Wars and The Purple Emperor by Herbie Brennan Chanters of Tremaris Series by Kate Constable. These are just a few good ones I recommend. Your local librarian might be able to tell you a few others, too. Good luck!
- The Name of the Wind (The Kingkiller Chronicle, Day 1) by Patrick Rothfuss The Golden Compass by Phillip Pullman
- It depends on your age level, but from what you've listed, you might like novels by R.A. Salvatore (Forgotten Realms series-- drow, elves, gnomes, dwarves, dragons..). Mercedes Lackey (fantasy/magick-- assassins, sorcerers, etc.) is another good author. I myself am also fond of Christopher Pike (science fiction/supernatural--androids, monsters and aliens, oh my!) and simply adore Anne McCaffrey (fantasy/sci-fi-- dragons!).
- I'm sure someone has said this, but try the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer.
- try salman rushdie's books
- Check out "Juniper" by Monica Furlong. It's one of my favorite Y/A books!!! "Ninnoc (aka Juniper) has abilities as a healer and the ambition to rule her father's small kingdom. She is sent to her unusual and unappealing godmother, who teaches her to become a doran, a sort of wise woman or white witch. Euny is no fairy godmother--her lessons are hard, slow, and obscure. Ninnoc returns home to find her father's kingdom under her evil aunt Meroot's enchantment. She then realizes that she must use her new powers to save both herself and her cousin Gamal, the gentle musician whom Meroot is forcing to become a warrior knight..." If you read it and like it, then I recommend the second book "Wise Child" and then the third book "Colman". :) ~Tia
- Pendragon Adventure. I like that book.
- The Farseer Trilogy by Robin Hobb (magical, mystery) The Soldier Son Trilogy by Robin Hobb (magical, supernatural, mystical)
- Try the Shannara series by Terry Brooks.
- Try The Incarnations of Immortality series or th Apprenticeship Adept series both by Piers Anthony. He also has tha Xanth series. Magic, alternate universes and mythical creatures. All very well written and easy to read.
- Mystical, magical, mystery, supernatural? That's easy. Mystical: The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis Magical: The Bartimaeus Trilogy by Jonathan Stroud Mystery: Stuff by Sydney Sheldon(they're a bit mature, but.....) Supernatural: His Dark Materials Trilogy by Philip Pullman
