How do you think Yahoo! Answers decided to put Astrology/Horoscopes in the "entertainment" category?
What is the entertainment factor? I'm still trying to figure this one out. How about you? It is quite *entertaining* to see that so many people claim to hate it and call it BS yet they're always hanging on here ready to post their opinions. That's so funny that it's actually cool, LOL! Wow! to pisces2222, that was a great (hefty) answer. I think I want to have your baby.

- well reading horoscopes and astrology interests me it's pretty entertaining
- it's just for fun. not like any of it's accurate. therefore, it is entertaining entertainment.
- I agree. It's so bullshit that it's not even entertaining.
- well ya have enough people ask for it and bingo there it is. People that are interested in that area would have lots to talk about.
- because it is fiction.
- Because most people don't persue astrology too extensively, and only check their horoscope for the enterainment vaule.
- How many times was it true for you anyway. It does occupy the same page space in newspapers and magazines..
- Well, you couldn't really put them in the Religion and Spirituality section, now could you? On second thought, I'm not really sure that I see the difference. Maybe we should put religion questions in Entertainment, as well.
- Well, since there has been at least one planet that was "discovered" since ancient astrology principles were laid out 2,000+ yrs ago, since Pluto is now offically no longer a planet, and since the whole Zodiac is all intertwined it could be argued that Astrology is not a "Science". It is then "Entertainment".
- My only logical thought is that they titled it "horoscopes" and thought that was entertainment, which they pretty much are. If it had been "astrology" that would be a bigger fight.
- It entertains the mind.
- It was entered as entertainment because it was called "whore-scope" initially. YA thought the name was too provocative and preferred to change it to Horror-scope. The entertainment factor is just that....as I described it. They didn't like the work @$$-TROLL-o-GEE either.
- There's entertainment value, hsu mi. You've just gotta look for it.
- I think it's because "horoscopes" are always listed under entertainment everywhere else. If you look in the newspaper or on any other websites, then that's always the category they fall under. Why this section is called "horoscopes" in the first place is what I don't understand. That's just one tiny aspect of astrology as whole. I don't think that yahoo takes astrology that seriously in the first place though or this section would be called................astrology..lol. Those chowder heads.
- because when you read your horoscope you usually (U-S-U-A-L-L-Y) read it in like a magazine or newspaper, and magazines and newspapers whole purpose is to entertain.
- I like this section it's pretty entertaining to me a long time ago I didn't believe in astrology but now I do.
- I've wondered too. I think it is because they've decided it is the "horoscope" section, but many of us have decided it should be the "astrology" section. Yahoo doesn't see the difference between horoscopes and astrology. In my humble opinion, I personally think that the "elections" and "politics" sections should also be placed in the entertainment category.
- This is serious subject, the methods ain't easy! We even has school for this!
- You know, I just answered a question similar to this one a while back! I concluded that Yahoo! answers must think that the majority believes Astrology to be a "hoax," or in the very least a form of entertainment, since it coincides with psychic and therefore "paranormal" things. Yet, while the majority might think that Astrology is just for people who want to know how their future is going to be, they continually overlook the fact that "Astrology" has been linked to "Astronomy" since the earliest ages. I think that Astrology would be better suited in the science area - BUT, then the scientific community (the particularly skeptical ones) would claim that Astrology is not a "real" science and that it doesn't deserve to be in that category, b/c its principles/theories cannot be proven. ( Example: if one's horoscope states that they will undergo a life-changing experience within the week, scientists/skeptics would argue that anything that happens is purely chance, purely coincidence). ALSO, astrology is tied to mythology (the constellations each have a story surrounding their origin), and since most people just pass popular myths off as creative tales of whimsy and mystical adventures, no one really listens/believes that they could learn anything from these tales (parables are the only exceptions b/c they are more analogies for real life...myths often contain magic potions which - AWESOME as they are - cannot be PROVEN to actually work) TO CONCLUDE, most people believe that astrology is like a myth - it was derived purely for comical/entertaining purposes, and that any time a horoscope "comes true" is purely coincidental. Yet, if you are like me, then you might understand that astrology is more than just predicting the past, present, and future - but if used correctly, it can become a TOOL that helps people learn more about each other and the world around them - because people will have some foresight into the personality of the other person, then he/she will know how to act around the other person even before they really begin to interact! That's the part of astrology that intrigues me the most! Okay, sorry that this is such a HEFTY response....but it is really an AWESOME question, and thus it deserves a proper reply! Hope this helps! -Pisces2222
- i believe in astrology...it's NOT entertainment, it's educational and belongs in the spiritual/cultural/religious area. horoscopes ( y'know, those in the daily paper etc) are crap and purely for entertainment (although, not mine)
- well they named it the horoscopes section.. and i think most ppl make a mockery out of the sun signs in newspapers and magazines that sort of things are known as entertainment and you usually find horoscopes there... so i guess thats why? lol...
- its good that its entertainment coz then nobody can sue you for a wrong prediction!!!!yes please consider horoscopes as fun.
