Have you ever had the mystical, magical experience of feeling?
that the novel/short story you have chosen to read has also chosen you too? Please share your experiences. For example I choose a novel that is set in Winter and it is Winter now. Or I choose a novel that is about the break up of a love relationship and that's what is happening to me too. Thanks to all who participate.

- Yea, but not from reading a book,
- this is a great idea you have, and yes, i do try to do it when possible. if i can't manage to choose a book that is appropriate for my life at a particular time, i try to do something related to it while i am reading, or after i have read the book. for example, i was reading a book earlier this year about that takes place in the markets of paris in the 1860s. to make this more real, i visited our local markets, during the time i was reading the book. goodness, it made the book so real, i really literally felt like i was in the parisian markets in the 1860s as i read it! anyway, yes, keep it up ,its a great idea, hope you read some great books in '08.
- Oh yes, frequently...... It sometimes seems like the book was meant for you to read at a specific point in your life!!! Some divine book guidance leads you to the book that will bring you the most help, or comfort, or better understanding of what is happening in your life at the time. I am a firm believer in whatever "book fairy" it is that does this for us. One specific occurrence I can recall involved the book "The Stand" by Steven King. I had read one or two of his novels before and was not impressed, quite turned off by them actually. When I was about to graduate from High School the big "are you going to college " question was being asked to me by everyone I knew. I did not plan to go, but could not articulate the reasons. I was seized with an overwhelming desire to read "The Stand"..... to the point where it was all I could think about... find the book and read it!!!! I tracked down a copy and read and read and read. About 350 pages into it was a very small, seemingly insignificant few lines about the futility of going to college... the proverbial light bulb went on over my head and I KNEW that I had found what I was meant to find. What I could not put into words about college was there before me, in black and white. I was MEANT to find that passage. I have never read another Steven King book again.... Weird, but true and oh so cool!!!
