Mystical Angels

Question for anyone who has changed beliefs.: Do you think different now than when you had other beliefs?

I do. I once thought it was okay to pray for someone against their wishes. I never did it to their face or told them I was because if it upset them, I did not want them to know I was praying for them. I now do not pray for or send healing energy unless I have permission. My thinking then was it was okay without their permission because I was serving the one and only God now I believe all paths lead to Diety so it is important to get permission. One time I not only believed in one God but took the bible literally and believed in only one faith and one church. Now I believe all spiritual paths are valid. This question is not limited to former Christians but to Christians also who have changed their beliefs even if it is only a change of denominations. Please answer with respectful and honest answers. I once thought it was my duty to convince others to become as I was because I was serving the one true God, now I believe that my religion is personal and do not talk to others unless they want me to and never to convert anyone. Please do not answer by saying I am knocking your belief. I am just courious to see if anyone else thinks so much differently than they used to. If you want to knock me and pray for me against my will please just control yourself and refrain from answering. Nerd, I can tell you came to judge me and not to answer my question. Please take your preachng some place else you are showing disrespect. whirling that attitude causes many to upset people by praying for them against their wishes and it shows disrespect for them as a person. It also will make sure that person will not ever see your side because of the disrespect you show. now if you want to pray against their will and not tell them, they will never know and it is just you who know. I don't mind those who believe differently than me to pray for me on occasion and realize some are praying that I change beliefs, and if I know them, trust them and respect them that is fine but those who are disrespectful in the name of pleasing God are doing nothing but making sure i never listen to them. Besides you did not answer my question, you just pointed out your disapproval of me.

  1. I was once catholic, now atheist. I feel much better, thank you.
  2. Yes, I used to think praying actually did something. I used to be catholic, and I'm now an atheist.
  3. The actual reason why I changed religions is that I saw this video on YouTube telling me to sit down and just think about my belief system, and, to be honest, it seemed a bit too far-fetched for my liking. As such, I concluded that the existence of god was not something I believed in, so I just sat back and decided to become an atheist, and I think it has made more a much more rational person.
  4. I was once a Catholic... and right now I think I became more tolerant of other beliefs, more kinder to people, and happier.
  5. I've converted and couldn't recommend the process more to people. Even if you return to your original religion, you return with experience and knowledge and a perspective on your birth-religion that you would elsewise never have had.
  6. I always had trouble with evangelising. I always thought it was too much like selling. And I hate being pushy and forcing people to buy things. You have to sell jesus and the christian lifestyle. And too many people have seen how christians really live which is why they are not interested. I do not blame them one little bit. Now I dont push anyone at all. I do post a Deist website on this forum when I feel it is appropriate. But I leave it up to the readers to choose to read it or not.
  7. yes, I once thought that I should just leave people alone and that it did not matter what i did to them or for them. Now i know that i am accountable for the souls of those that i love and that if I do not love them the way that God has commanded me to love them then i am not living in the way of love that Jesus is showing to me. Now i try each day to be love for others and to walk in love, as Jesus would, to forgive always and be apt to teach when necessary.
  8. to have the truth, then to let it go...
  9. I think you are asking the wrong person for permission. For private prayer, the main person to have approval from is God.
  10. my policy is: it's up to the individual. everyone has their own believe system. not up to others to judge. Doesn't make them a bad person neither. the older we get more knowledge we receive. I like your point that - all spiritual paths are valid. it's crazy when some folks comes out an say - ' the only way you get to heaven if you join our church' something wrong in that picture each to their own
  11. Well said WiccanRider. I also like Tahuti's response.
  12. To be honest, I don't think my beliefs have really changed since becoming Eclectic, I've just realized that my beliefs were not really Jewish, the religion I was raised as. I mean, I would go to synagogue and such, but I never really felt 100 percent that what was going on there was right for me. I've since merged what I did feel was right about Judaism with what I have learned about other religions such as Paganism and Hinduism to make a unique religion that is just right just for me.
  13. yes OK ..as a christian feel I can enter any denomination and feel at home ..so as christian not really changed my faith , but , maybe my place of worship if I feel the need for serious prayer... .If friend is in need of my prayers will say will pray for you and their happy with that sometimes I ask for their prayers but would hope their prayers would be freely given without having to ask for them or be asked for my approval and think my friends and most christian would accept prayer freely given no Questions asked . .GOD IS GOD no matter what faith creed religion , think most religious bodies adhere to this belief just have different ways of practise ,and also all spiritual paths are valid even if you take side road to get there .. just an honest answer also don't believe it is important to ask for permission sometimes its not possible to do this .and if our prayers are needed will freely give unconditionally for all creeds
