Why is there a law in Wisconsin giving parents the right to kill there kids? where is the morality in that?
Wisconsin has an especially backward law that protects the proponents of faith-based medical neglect. State statute 948.03(6) provides an exemption from the law against failing to act to protect children from bodily harm for what is referred to as "Treatment through prayer." The statute says: "A person is not guilty of an offense under this section solely because he or she provides a child with treatment by spiritual means through prayer alone for healing in accordance with the religious method of healing ... in lieu of medical or surgical treatment." . "In Weston, Wisconsin on Sunday, March 23, 2008, 11-year old Madeline Neumann died from diabetes that had gone untreated. According to FOXNews, the last time her parents took her to the doctor was when she was 3-years old. Her parents are not affiliated with any church, but they do have small Bible studies that a few people attended in their home. They called on these people to pray. After Madeline died they assumed that they didn't have enough faith for God to heal their daughter, but believe that God could still resurrect her." http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/678949/are_religious_exemption_laws_killing.html?cat=5 this is the main source for this question; http://www.thedailypage.com/daily/article.php?article=22053 I cannot believe I spelt "their" wrong what a dope!

- It's immoral to make an accusation like you just did. Sounds like a valid exception to me. It's good for kids, and their families, - to have religious autonomy. I think all parents have a sincere interest in healing their kids. And some a$$-parent that, thru negelect, - tries to hide behind this 'exception', - will be found-out right away.
- They can kill their kids before they are born, why not after?
- "Nothing tips like a cow" -Wisconsin
- Because of that admendment right Freedom of Religion.
- Ultimate in Pro Choice isnt it?
- that's weird. what the..
- It would appear that wisconsin has an unconstitutional law. No worries, some freshfaced law school graduate will make his name repealling it.
- As weird as it is, some people believe that way. There is a lady at my work who was having chest pains but wouldn't go to the doctor because she only believes in natural healing. It's weird... I know, but some people are just that way.
- What does Obama and Clinton say about this?
- It's called respecting someone's beliefs, instead of arrogantly assuming you're a genius who knows enough about medicine and spirituality to dictate what's best for others. Did it occur to you that people might believe in prayers healing people because they've seen it work? Alternately, think of it as late term "choice".
- youre making the mistake of expecting religious belief to coincide with the natural instinct of a parent to do all he/she can to protect their child thats why i have more respect for each and every creature on earth that does all it can to protect its young than i do for sentient humans who consciously choose not to fair dos this section never fails to alarm. people citing abortion as a justification for allowing one's postnatal child to die needlessly. terrifying
- There's a law allowing people to kill their kids in every state. As long as they are still in need of the pretection of their mother's womb.
- Roe v. Wade right? Oh you were speaking of allowing a child to die instead of murdering one. Sorry my bad. Actually I disagree with this law and yes I am an Evangelical Christian. But I would point out that this does recognize the beloved separation of Church and State that many here are so deeply committed to.
- It's probably unconstitutional. Anyway, aren't negligent homicide (which this probably is) and child abuse (which this definitely is) both federal offences? So couldn't you call the FBI even if the Wisconsin police didn't want to get involved? Or does it not work that way around?
- Parents kill their kids with impunity from the law here, too. Only here they call it abortion, and pretend it just ain't so. Funny ol' world, innit.
- Freedom of religion gone too far. I guess they do not want to be like Texas.
- It goes to show you the extreme in our laws and how some religions still offer up sacrifices to false Gods, It's horrible that they even force a belief system on children.America is a free country and one would have to think, Is this what freedom brings when there is no factor to protect children.
- i don't know anything about this but to me parents being able to kill a child they have given birth to or that has already had a bit of a life them being able to kill that child is OUTRAGEOUS to me!!!!! please cheek out my question on religion http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Apph_3dH60zDCJ6yFVmpmmMgBgx.;_ylv=3?qid=20080603082017AA40xdQ
