How do mystics verify that their personal mystical experiences are indeed caused by God ?
There is a possibility that what we regard as mystical experiences are in reality caused by some other stuff, i dunno what stuff but ya know ....stuff. How do you know that it's God ?It could be anything right ? Salam and thanks ;-)

- There is no verity. There is no means of verifying a God that has been argued even by theologians to be unprovable. The Franciscan Wm. of Occam (Occam's Razor) said that no science and no theological argument could prove it, that faith was faith, reason was reason, and that God's existence must be taken on faith and ONLY on faith. I believe him.
- It's like seeing a new colour, getting a knowledge which doesn't come from your thinking and doesn't arrive in thought . It's feeling a huge divine presence. very real and very clear. It's different to being stoned if that's what you mean.
- I can think of one chapter of a great spiritual book that was written by someone eating moldy Rye bread... if you look it up, you will find these are the same chemicals as what we know as LSD... and this is but a drop in the bucket of the great works written on the effects of mind altering substances... I call attention to the works of Eager Allen Poe, who freely admitted to writing while high on cocaine! ME! Come to think on it, can you tell me one case of a mystical experience that was not mind altering in some way or other? Always there is a heightened awareness for some reason, be it stress, prayer, fasting, Love, drugs, or any other mind altered state! All life can influence reality in some way, so who is to say what is caused by GOD, did you ask GOD? I did... .
- There are many levels and dimensions of what we think of as me or I. To see God as being separate from this definition of I, makes it seem logical to ask if it is coming from God or from something else. It is all coming from God it is just our difinition of what we are that makes this seem like a revelant question. Love and blessings Don
- A mystic has a pretty good vibe about whether heir experience is of the goodness of God- or something sinister.
- God does help us with through the experience (especially if we manage to get somewhere that we didn't even know we were heading. I speak from BIG time experience on this). Because some experiences are more difficult than others. It all depends on what your souls ultimate goal is in this life time. It appears to me the bigger your project to be acheived is the more trying the mystical or ritual, (insert your own word here. I still haven't found one that describes adequately what happened to me.) seems to be. I only make this statement because with all my research it appears that things do happen to people, but then a very few have multiple trials to go thru. They can be brought about in different ways for different people. Good can prompt this, but yes, even bad can prompt this. There can be outside forces from good - bad, positive - negative, rightouse - evil. Choose your pick, they are all just names that lead to the same end. In the end we may not know where they ultimately all come from, for there are always different roads to the same location. Look at a road map for an exmple. Should we really care where they come from? Or should we be glad that we were one of the blessed and have been shown a path that will better ourselves and others as well
- i never knew they verified it in the first place. I, in fact, am a bit of a mystic. "mystic," "esotericist," "occultist." same thing. and yes, I've had many mystical experiences. depth mystical ones, to be more precise. and, I've studied under bonafide yogi mystics in the Swami Monastic Order. there are many explanations for such experiences, and not all experiences happen from the same causes. all I can tell you is that the more truly mystic you are, the more you know about what's going on. but VERIFY direct God intercession? No.
