Can anyone suggest the best make/kind of tarot cards to use if starting out?

I have spent years feeling very psychic/clairvoyant and not always giving it the attention I would have liked to afford. However having lived abroad for a while and returning to the UK I am going to start being more in tune and attending a circle/spiritual church etc. I would like a set of cards not too expensive but dont mind if its worth it. I have looked on ebay and feel I like two sets. These are called: 1. The legendary Arthurian Tarot - Anna Marie Ferguson 2. Connolly Tarot cards I would say I am drawn to the Connolly ones. I want a good set, good quality and original. Do I need a special container for them, or a special cloth to keep them in. Any advice would be much appreciated as I am keen on making a start and getting it right. Thanks

  1. I was once told that you should never buy yourself a set of cards, only use a set which had been given to you. This probably doesn't help unless you've been given some of course.
  2. The best tarot cards i believe are by rider Waite. they are original and can be bought of eBay. you don't need a special cloth just don't let anybody El's handle them. the more you personally use them the more in tune with you they become, they then work better for you personally.
  3. Mythic deck as the minor arcanas tell a story so are easier to learn. Keep them in a cloth, it keeps them clean
  4. Hello Welcome to the world of tarot! The Connolly will be easier as they are based about the Rider Waite & you can get lots of books based on that deck. You only need a special container if you wish one. Join our free community forum, we have 5 tarot rooms & lots of tarot folks, so you can ask questions as you go through you study of them, I also have a Tarot course for those who desire it. 5. I have both of these decks- Connolly is the closest to the Rider-Waite, but some one above says the best and original is Rider, which is not so, Marsalleies is actually the first ever tarot decks which where created back in the 1400's Rider decks came out 1910. Legend also follows in the Rider style, but swaps the elemental dignities of Swords and Wands. This can be a problem for some, but not all. I use several different decks and some are the same and some are different, but they all work for me. Out of the two decks you mention, I like Legends better. But I am a bit of a non-traditionalist. You do not have to be gifted a deck- if that where true I'd still be deckless....you do not have to have a special container or anything, but I prefer to keep my decks in bags made of cotton or some other natural fiber. The BEST deck is what ever deck works best for you. I have tried the Rider decks and they just don't do anything for me. but like I said, I am different, so I work better with 'odd' decks. If you are quite an intuitive, you might want to check out the Fey deck. It is, by meanings, the same as a Rider deck, but the images are (well for odd old me) very alive for intuitive readings. Happy hunting ps- buy from Amazon and not ebay
