  1. I know a pyramid technique that's pretty easy to use... You simply have to shape pyramids with the cards. Either go from top to bottom for a fortune of the present to the future (V shape) or bottom to top for predicting the past to the nearby future (inverted V) Instructions: 1. Shuffle the cards 2. Ask the fortune seeker to cut the cards 3. Distribute the cards to form a 7-cards based pyramid. 4. Discard the rest of the deck 5. Reveal the first row of cards in front of you (the cards must be placed so you're the one reading them... If you want to read the future, there should be 1 card [top of the pyramid] in front of you. 6. Interpret the cards (Note that some Tarot decks include the "Trickster" card. The Trickster warns you that the rest of the cards above it are lying. If you find the Trickster at the beginning of a "future pyramid", discard it and re-shuffle the entire deck) 7. Ask the seeker if he wants to know more. 8. Reveal the next row. 9. Repeat steps 6 to 8 until you've revealed the entire pyramid or if the seeker asks you to stop. It's the easiest reading that I know. Enjoy! Edit: forgot to tell you that each row in the pyramid is a different period in time... ************** Unfortunately, not all decks have the same figures. Your deck should come with a small "instruction manual" that describes your figures and what they mean. If not, it's probably a basic set of Tarot cards, in which case you can find some descriptions here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tarot ...Still, that won't tell you how to "tell a fortune". That's where your own interpretation has to count. Here's a small example: In my deck, I have a figure called "the Lost Girl in the Woods". What this card means depends of the other cards around "her". If I draw "Bastet, Goddess of Cats" with her and the "King on his Throne", it could mean that my (female) seeker is confused about her current relationship and probably feels anger or frustration towards her boyfriend. But, if I draw the "Lost Girl in the Woods" along with the "Errand Knight", it could mean my seeker is about to meet new people... and that she should be careful if I draw the "Dragon & Fairies" card.
  2. Pagannews.com has card meanings, And you could look up the different spreads including the most commonly used "Celtic Cross" Spread. Its easier than it sounds, it just takes thinking, memorization, and how to apply your life into poetic terms.
  3. Be patient and read the book. There are many different ways, but reading always helps. Look up spreads on Google.
  4. The Idiot's Guide To Tarot is a fantastic book to start off with. I thought it was silly until I actually read through a friend's copy. Even though I've been reading cards for about 16 years, it even helped me with a few things! And as someone else said, patience. It takes *years*. I still refer to books for very specific readings, as does my mother (who has been reading cards for nearly 40 years). Don't get discouraged. :)
  5. I'm afraid there is no quick and easy solution here except for study and learning and practice, of course. Try looking at each card individually and feel what message it is giving to you. How does that card make you feel when you look at the picture. Ask a question and try to feel what that card is telling you to do and how that applies to the question that you are asking. Nobody knows everything about the Tarot - it's a never ending journey.
  6. Hello Becoming a student of the Tarot is easy, you buy some cards, mastering them on the other hand ... Approach them as a long & pleasant journey, after over 20 years, running a Tarot Course & on line community I am still learning - they have so many levels. Join us if you wish. Those small booklets do not hold much at all, Amazon do some good books that will help you along. Good Luck. Sadhara * see profile *
