What do we use Tarot cards for? Does it "see into the future"?

I am interested in learning more. Is Tarot to do with spirits? I dont want to get myself into that sort of thing! Is it like witchcraft, but a white witch? Doy ou have to be psychic to use them? Are they genuine?

  1. Charlatans use them to trick suckers out of cash!
  2. The world is a pretty crazy place. People will go to pretty extreme measures to try and get some advantage over it, and tip the scales in their favor so to speak. Tarot is said to deal with spirits. I have had a couple of readings, and they haven't been to accurate in my experience.
  3. Past Present and Future. I heard once that the tarot's abilities lie within the individual's ability to read them, so for all you know it could infact just be a heap of mumbo-jumbo. Not that i'm dismissing the valued tradition of mumbo-jumbo first observed by explorers among tribes on the subject of their ritual practices, of course.
  4. wELL, THEY ARE GENUINE, AS IN THEY EXIST! sOME PEOPLE HAVE A KNACK OF 'READING' THE CARDS AND THEY CAN BE A USEFUL TOOL IN GIVING PEOPLE GUIDANCE. tHEY WON'T TELL THE FUTURE AND AS FAR AS i KNOW THEY WILL NOT PUT YOU AT RISK OF BEING POSSESSED BY THE dEVIL HIMSELF! yOU WOULD HAVE TO STUDY FOR MANY YEARS, TRIAL AND ERROR, TO BE ABLE TO READ THEM CORRECTLY, BUT WITH PATIENCE YO MAY BE ABLE TO ACHIEVE THIS - oops didn't realise my Caps were on! sorry! I think they work psychologically, I don't disbelieve them as I had a reading many years ago that was strikingly good, then tried to learn them myself, with no luck - not enough perseverance! Its a very interesting subject all the same. Good luck.
  5. I am a Tarot Instructor. We use the Tarot to give us guidance and help us to find the solution(s) to (a) problem(s). They do see into the future in a sense - they tap into our 'God Self'...our connection with God or whatever Divine we believe in. They have nothing to do with spirits at all unless you consciously invite spirits to work with you via the cards. They have nothing to do with witchcraft on their own even though some witches do use them - but some Christians also use them. You don't have to be psychic to use them - anyone can use them. And they are genuine.
  6. be careful what doors you are opening with that. I wouldn't play with that stuff if I were you.
  7. if u hv ever seen a commercial 4 psychic readings,u'll noticethat it says: 4 entertainment purposes only, so what does that tell u.
  8. WELL I am not sure the last time i got a tarot card reading all that he saw was death. and i am not dead yet.
  9. A way of telling the future to individuals. Total bunkum and should be treated as such.
  10. Firstly, we have to remember that there is nothing special about tarot cards. Tarot cards were created in the mid 15th century by adding a suit of picture cards to the existing Latin suited playing cards. These extra cards took as their theme a Christian triumph procession, hence they were known as trionfi, meaning triumphs, and from which we get our word trump. It was the invention of tarot that marked the invention of trumps in card games - and that's what tarot cards were for, playing card games. If some of the images look strange or mysterious to us, it is because we are looking at them with modern eyes, yet in the 15th century they were all familiar in Christian art, which is why the church, contrary to popular belief, never objected to them. For example, the Female Pope looks almost heretical and yet at the time she was a common figure in religious art, used to represent things such as the New Covenant, or the virtue of Faith. Another is the Hanged Man, a title given to it by the French card makers who were as confused as to what it represented as the later occultists. In Italy, this card was known as the Traitor - because in Italy, that's how they killed traitors, hung by one foot and left to die slowly and publically. No mystery at all. I'm happy to add that the games, perhaps the best in the world, are still played throughout continental Europe. The use best known in the English speaking world is that of fortune telling. This dates back only about 200 years to France, and for about 100 years was limited to that country. In the early 20th century, British occultists began to publish translations of the French occultists and import cards. These occult ideas then spread quickly throughout the English speaking world. By this time, most of Europe had been using French suited tarot cards, more usually known as tarock (only the French called the cards tarot) and no longer associated the traditional cards with game play, making it possible for the occult myths to be spread back through Europe. However, given their real origin, reading tarot cards is no different in kind from reading tea leaves, knuckle bones, dominoes, or a pack of Happy Families - all of which have been used for divination (yes, even Happy Families!). This, I find, robs tarot reading of much of its credibility. However, I also believe that knowledge of the future is not possible. Logically, it doesn't really make sense, involving reverse causations and is subject to many of the same paradoxes that plague notions of time-travel. For myself, as I've suggested, I love the games very much and feel it a shame that they have been ignored by English speakers. However, there does seem to be some growing interest in them, often from tarot readers - I hope that you will consider this use of them.
  11. Hello Tarot are a tool. They are used for divination, meditation, guidance & psychic development. All manner of people use them, but in themselves they are not witchcraft, although Wiccan's do use them. You are spirit, so yes they are connected & for some they will help you to develop your psychic ability. Yes they are genuine, but at the end of the day they are 78 pieces of laminated card, so they are for what you use them for as an individual. 12. The tarot is used chiefly to part fools from their money.
  13. There is no such thing as a "white" witch unless you are referring to a caucasian. Tarot cards can be used as a psychological tool or to determine the MOST LIKELY outcome of a situation. By having that information, you can change the actual outcome.
  14. I use Tarot cards to help me touch what I already know. By the time we are 2 years old, we already know more than is useful in any given situation. A 2 year old knows about hot stoves. That doesn't help much in an ice cream store. It happens all too often that my huge store of knowledge doesn't include clear tidbits such as what to do about my child's adolescent rebellion. As I play with my Tarot deck, I find usable tidbits coming to the surface of my knowledge base. At worst, it calms me enough that I don't kill the brat before she wags her pierced tongue. I believe it's possible that there are spirits involved, but... Think I'll just let that mystery be. The usable fact is that it calms me down.
