When you do a Tarot reading; Who is the "questioner" & who is the "diviner"?
And who does what with the cards. I have some Fenestra Tarot Cards & want to try them on my mom first. I know it's possible to do a reading of yourself but the silly pamphlet that came with them doesn't recommend it. PLEASE don't answer if you're a bible beater. I will not acknowledge your answer. Thanks!

- you are the diviner and your book is just a guild as you will be
- The questioner is the person asking the question and the diviner would be the person who is laying out the cards and interpreting them for the questioner. Personally I've never had a problem reading for myself and I don't know why you couldn't, after you are more familiar with the cards and have done some practice readings. Good luck!
- sometimes the 'Querent' and the Reader are the same person! The Querent asks the question. The best thing I can advise is to study the cards, both the pamphlet and the cards themselves. It is hard to find the right deck for yourself. I have the Archeon Tarot because I see a lot of movement in the cards and its easier for me to give the traditional pamphlet reading, and then tell what I SEE in the cards.
- The questioner would be the person seeking the answer and the diviner would be the person reading them. While it's not wise to do full spread readings for yourself often; try pulling a card for yourself a day and read it. What do you gather from that card? Take notes in a special book and at the end of the day compare your notes from that morning to how your day actually went.
- Tarot reading for yourself is not only possible but recommended. I've been reading for half a year now and I've ONLY done readings for myself thus far. In a tarot reading, the questioner is the person seeking enlightenment (you if your doing a reading for yourself) and the diviner is the source of the information. Many people get into tarot thinking that the answers are coming from the cards. They are not. Cards are cards and nothing more. The cards are a link between you and whatever deity you pray to. Your god/goddess/whatever is the source of the information. When you shuffle cards, the order is determined by fate. Fate is controlled by deities. Start off a reading with a prayer to your deity and ask THEM your question and not the cards themselves. Your deity, in turn, will control the fate of your shuffle in order to relay their message to you. The analogy I always like to use for this is that asking the cards themselves for your fortune is like trying to have a conversation with a telephone. In the case of doing a reading for someone else, the other person is the questioner and you are simply an intermediary. Think of yourself as a translator. You know how to get the message for the person who needs it. It is important to note in these situations that the questioner can't simply sit there while you do everything. The reading is for them. They need to take an active role. It's always good to have them either shuffle the deck, tell you when to stop shuffling, or for you to fan out the cards and they pick them at random. Their energy must be present and tapped during the reading in order for the answer to be for them and not you. Always make sure your questioner comes to you with a SPECIFIC question and a SPECIFIC source for their answer (their deity or even their subconscious). Just make sure they know where their information is coming from. I always love to talk tarot so feel free to IM or email me if you'd like any further explanations of what I've said. Good luck to you.
- When I read for myself, I am the diviner. I find that when you read for yourself, you must seperate yourself from you and your situation. Ask your question as if you are reading for a seperate person and maintain your Diviner role. The reason it's often recommended that you do not read for yourself is because we are so close to the situation that we try and make the cards 'fit' into what we'd like to see happen. We are simply too close to the situation. I often read for myself, but on very trying times, I get a reading done for me by an outside reader. I wish you well :D
- Hello If you was performing a reading for me I would be the Questioner & you would be the Diviner. Sadhara
