You say that we are always assaulting you with threats of hell, why do you care if you think it's a mystical place anyway? You do recognize it as a bad thing uh? I'll still pray for you but since you've rejected Jesus, you only have you to blame for not entering the Kingdom of Heaven. Well "Paul", Some Christians understand that there is no need to sugarcoat it . The Bible doesn't. It specifically says that whoever doesn't accept Jesus as their Savior isn't not going to Heaven. I'm just pointing it out to you. Npt out of malice as some of you are accusing me of. Just doing my duty as a Christian. To other Christians it offends, do your homework. Why do you get mad when I tell you there is no god and show you why the whole idea of god is stupid? Oh maybe its because instead of forcing your beliefs on people you should let them live there own life. Telling someone over and over again they are going to hell is tantamount to abuse.

I totally understand. You already know the answer by asking this question, but most athiests you've met have a linger idea in their head that there might be a god, and it scares them when you ssay there is. And then there's the "how can so many religious people be wrong" idea, where many atheists are surrounded by religion. I am sure there are plenty of athiests who wouldn't get offended, but plenty who would, too.

I get irritated because when someone is telling me that I am "going to Hell", it means that the person speaking has made a snap judgement about me and my life based in an extremely small bit of evidence...whether or not I believe in their pet sky fairy, or whether or not I share their personal politics. It's like going up to someone you disagree with and telling them that you want them dead.
If I told you every day that you were going to have your soul devoured by Ammut because your heart was heavier than an feather don't you think that you would get a little sick of it too? Hell is imaginary, but it would be really nice if you learned to keep your condescending opinions on it to yourself a little more. Pot is illegal and they're slowly making booze and cigarettes that way because they're bad for us. I really don't care if you say I am going to hell. It is meaningless to me. What bothers me is that CHRISTIANS believe I am going to hell, and then use that fact to judge, look down on, or ignore me as irrelevant. For example, I try to explain about gay rights, "Well, you are a lost soul going to hell, so your opinion doesn't matter." I work as a middle school teacher, "An atheist who is going to hell should be allowed to shape young minds." If I discuss biology, "Your opinions don't matter because god said." Loving Christians think, act, and speak this way. Further, they feel justified because they are "saved" and view others as "lost."
Because they are fighting an inner battle for what they know is right and what their flesh want to do. They do not want to be accountable for their action. In some of the people the God is reaching out to them and they don't know how to handle it with out screaming and yelling that we invading on their space when they are crying out for help. Your question is similar to asking someone "Why do you care if I call you a pig, since you know you are not REALLY a pig, why do you care ?" It is poor manners to tell someone to drop dead or go to hell, even if the person doesn't believe in hell, you are wishing upon them eternal torment. Very simply, it is NOT NICE. I get mad because I do not appreciate being defamed. Defamation is a crime, yet you think you can get away with it because "your religion" made you do it. Rubbish. Religion is not an excuse for breaking the law or being offensive. Also nothing in bible says "And only those who wearith the name tag X religion may be considered saved". I am a Christian, and this is a perfect example of why there are atheist. Who would want to be like you. Mad = nuts, so I do not go mad (or nuts) if I hear such nonsense. I do become annoyed if someone is too persistent in telling me something I know is fantasy. My sister has pushed me to the boiling point, and that is dumb, for I weigh 360 lbs and can lift two people her size, one in each hand and toss them across the room. I did that to my brother when he attacked me, and he was 6'5.5", 225-235 lbs. I used him as a dumbbell when we were at peace, i.e. lifting him over my head several times with one hand. It all depends upon how one talks to me whether I become angry or not. You are falsely accusing me here, and that violates one of Moses' ten commandments. Be more careful with the truth in the future, please! Are you "mad' if someone tells you you cannot go to Valhalla, because you don't believe in Odin; cannot go to Hades' House and will be punished in Tartarus for not believing in Zeus; won't have 72 houris in Paradise for not believing in Allah; etc.? It is because of the environment of that moment when the words are said to them. May be some hot discussions are on and in the mean while if they are told like that they don't think of presence of God or not but they take these words as slang words said for dominating them. That's all.

I'm not an atheist...I'm an agnostic Jewish woman. But I can answer your question by telling you that it is rude to offer unasked for advice and opinions to others. If someone should ask you about it, then you can offer your advice and/or opinions. I do not recognize the Christian concept of hell and to be told by a total stranger that everything I know and believe is a fallacy because they are the only ones with the truth is just rude.
