  1. Christianity as Tarot Cards are the work of the devil.
  2. all Christian demoninations - including Catholics, Baptists, Protestants and every other Bible based denomination
  3. Bible reading evangelicals generally shun tarot cards . . . I burned mine when I became a Christian (back in 1973). It is considered "divination" which is against the Bible. Dan in Miami
  4. Christian, and I can tell you, your grandma would be beyond upset... likewise i am to... tarot cards ARE FAKE...
  5. christians dont like tarot cards. but if you like them then use them. i love them. i have the same problem with my grandma, i havent told her yet, i just hide everything when she comes over.
  6. Judaism and true Christianity. See Deuteronomy 18:9-13 "You must not preserve a sorceress alive." ~ Exodus 22:18
  7. Unfortunately, some religions and some people (religious or not) feel that Tarot cards and Tarot readings are somehow wrong. I use Tarot cards as a method of helping others with advice and guidance that they perhaps can't see for themselves. I'm not advising you to go behind your grandma's back but I would be very careful about upsetting her if she found out. I know Christians and Catholics who read Tarot and they don't seem to have a problem with it.
  8. Hello Most religions do not hold with such matter, but it down to the individual. I have known a devote Catholic who used them & others who have warned me off of them. You will have to just ask. Sadhara See Profile
  9. I just had my first tarot reading the other day and I found it surprisingly accurate! Now I consider myself to be a logical and rational person, so I can't quite accept the explanation that it's just "magic" that makes them work. While I have to admit that there may a bit of divine intervention involved - angels prodding you to choose this card over that one - the rest of it is purely human intuition. Some of it, I believe, is cold reading. The reader picks up on body language, verbal and non-verbal cues, facial expression, and other subtler energies as the querent (the person getting the reading) responds to the cards as they're laid out. The reader follows these cues like signposts as she tells the story of the cards. The other thing is that the querent gets out of the cards whatever he or she wants to get out of them. If you think it's a crock of sh1t, that's exactly what it'll be for you. If you want deeper self-knowledge, that's what you'll get. Ultimately, they're just a tool. The reader is just there to help prompt the querent to dig deeper within themselves and find the real truth of things. At least, that's what I got from my reading. My reader was very good. They are akin to therapists so I think you have to search for one that works well with you or you won't get anything out of it. My thought on it is that the "magic" does not lie in a stack of colourful cardboard cut-outs, but in the ability of the person holding them to connect with and utilize their subconsciouses. Having psychic gifts does not make someone a witch or evil. God gave people these gifts. His young men will have visions and his old men will dream dreams. The bible is full of prophecy and divination! Prophetic dreams and their interpretation, visions, unexplained knowing of things, visits from angels... Yet today people scoff at these things. Why? Why is it only believable when it's safely tucked away in a dusty book? The bible is riddled with this stuff, which tells me that it's a fairly common experience. I think if one believes in divine guidance, the tarot would appeal to them. If the pagan roots of the symbolism is bothersome, there ARE Christian decks out there. The Tarot of the Angels and the Tarot of the Saints are two examples. The other thing you could do is incorporate your faith with the practice. Before you begin, pray for guidance, wisdom and understanding. Ask for the protection of your guardian angels and clearly state that your intentions are only to help and to encourage spiritual growth, wisdom, and the living of a life that God would approve of. Present your prayer as a humble plea for protection and help and you will have it. I said I was rational and logical, but I can't deny the Divine and the Great Mystery of God. Perhaps some day science will explain everything, but even if it does I won't stop believing that there is something more to existence than what we see and know. Good luck to you!
