who here thinks there needs to be a separate category for paranormal or ghosts etc?

it seems the closest we can choose from is either "religion and spirituality" (which is hogged by the christians and atheists), or "mythology and folklore" (which is not exactly right either) but ghosts, vampires, orbs, aliens, ufo's, witches, wicca, satanism, astral travel, lucid dreaming, energy work, spiritual healing, etc, etc, etc, i think maybe should have it's own category or would the atheists and christians just come in and ruin that for us too? calling all crazy and what not? or is "Science & Mathematics > Alternative > Paranormal Phenomena" good enough?

1. I do I wish there was a forum we could go to and talk about it also there might be I just don't know much about computers so I may be missing it. one that we could go without all the unbelievers and crap talk. I would like to be able to talk about things that I'm working on and get honest opinions. but it is probably in this category because most of the world still feels it is scientific and not real.
2. You're right, this is a strange place to put such discussions. I think that a Paranormal subcategory off the Society & Culture category would be the best placement.
3. No it is not, believers in the paranormal and the spirit world should have their own category, because certain cults believe in demons and don't give anyone peace to discuss what they know. Good question have a star.
4. This is the place for it. But since it was filed under the Science section, you're going to have scientists in here saying 'hey, wait, that has nothing to do with science' or 'that would be easy to prove if true but no one has ever done so'. Move it to the Mythology or Entertainment section, and we won't bother.
5. I think it should be seperate, outside of the sceince and math category. Cause I personally see things as ghosts and angels and witches and satanism as more than just scientific paranormal investigation. There's a whole other side to the paranormal and it doesn't belong in the religion or mythology sections either.

7. A big YES!!!! some ghostly stuff is science connected..but not all of it is and I too wish that there were just a paranormal area.

9. I like the paranormal section here, people can ask if there is such a thing as telekinesis and the scientifically minded can tell them that there is not. If it was in another section with more believers the questioner may be misinformed by a lot of people encouraging them to do something which has not been shown as possible. Same for people that have sleep paralysis but think that they are being abducted by aliens.
10. I dont' know why it is under science and math. I think it would be better under myth and folklore, or society and culture. Frankly though, this isn't an active enough category to get its own, not compared to R&S or AltMed But I'd still know where to find you and help to keep things real. EDIT...how about just one big grab bag category called "Weird Shitt"
11. A lot of the astrology section "regulars" want something that is not in the entertainment section. But I don't recall YA changing any of the categories since I've been here. Petitioning seems ineffective.
12. I think this topic should be a separate category. It is deserved as there are a lot of people out there into it. I run a forum for my group, dedicated to this. So I think it definitely deserves it's own category.
13. Wicca and Satanism are religions and, as such, belong under "Religion and Spirituality." Why do you think they should be classified as paranormal phenomena?
14. Paranormal Phenomena works for me. M&F is good for some things, R&S for others, but ghostbusters come here. I just tune out the unspiritual naysayers-- you can tell THEY don't go to church!
15. i think we should have our own category because i have only asked one question here but deleted it because i got answers from people who were calling me crazy saying ghosts werent real. our own section with no non-believers!
16. For sure need our own category. I don't know how science and mathematics have anything to do with the paranormal. Sure they use all their little electronic gizmo's and gadgets on Ghost Hunters to try to "catch proof". By the way, I think that Ghost Hunters is the best show on television. But it has little to do with science and alot to do with luck. And until you can prove a "feeling" or a belief.. then I guess you're just left with that. I believe.

18. I'm a regular atheist from Religion & Spirituality and that was a bit of a generalization. I'm very much so interested in the paranormal, extraterrestrial, magik, energy work, etc. I'd gladly visit that board, if it ever happened to be made. However, the Christians from R&S, well I can't guarantee they wouldn't come to it and run around declaring everyone is possessed by demons, so.
19. i completely agree it's tricky to find. I didn't know it existed for a month!!!
