Mystical Angels

The US Founding Fathers used mystical & mythological symbols to represent their beliefs. Why is this?

Their beliefs, their dreams, & their intentions during the formation of our (US) government. Symbols like The All Seeing Eye, the Eagle, the Liberty Bell, the goddess symbols of Lady Freedom & the Statue of Liberty. Do these symbols & icons of history contain keys to the secret mystical teachings of ancient advanced cultures? Somewhere in those symbols there's a connection to the Freemasons, the Knights Templar, the Rosicrucians, & a host of other mystical traditions. Do you know of any other mystical traditions? Also, what's the connections between America & Atlantis???
