What do you think about this?
Okay so I have to do a demonstrative presentation for my college communications class. I am the last one to go, the other people in my class have done things like, how to perform the heimlich manuoevre, how to curl hair, how to cross-stitch, how to make greeting cards, how to play 7 up etc......I couldn't think of anything. But, I am thinking of showing the class how to make an Origami Fortune Teller. If you don't know what that is (http://www.enchantedlearning.com/crafts/origami/fortuneteller/) Does this sound like a good idea? Any advice/opening lines I could use?

- i think tht is a neat idea. um.........idk i'm not good at opening lines or anything like tht....srry!
- Didn't everyone learn how to make those in grade school? You must possess some skill that is more appropriate for the age group you are addressing.
- There are quite a few approaches. A good attention-grabber would be to connect with your audience through personal experience, so you could be all "remember in the schoolyard and classroom in elementary school..." because I'm in college and I know that was a fad for a bit. Or you could begin by introducing the history of origami, or what it is. Start by saying something along the lines of "Most of us have heard of origami, but do you know about it's origins? It's the ancient art of folding paper..." You could engage the audience, ask for a volunteer, and have them ask a yes/no question to demonstrate how it works, and it wouldn't take long. Or you could also select your professor if he is amiable and likely a willing target.
