Why Do People Have Trouble Accepting That Death Is The End?

I mean I think the reason that religion has been able to stick around for so long is because people have a fear of death. Nobody wants to accept that death is the end. Everyone lives and dies. Everybody wants to believe that you go to this mystical place when you die, but that's just not reality. Why can't people just accept death, and make the best of the time you've got here.

  1. Being cannot comprehend non-being.
  2. we just wont know,
  3. Well I guess we will ALL find out in the end, eh? If there is no Heaven (which there is) I guess I will never know the difference. So I will go on living my life for Jesus regardless of what you preach. God Bless
  4. Because there christian they think there going some where
  5. Yes, true but another question why couldn't everybody just believe in Jesus? Because they don't want to their is nothing ican do about that though just let the unbeliveinq just not believe.
  6. because it scares the Sh*t out of people to be frank. If people who are religious by nature all of a sudden accept the fact than their religion and the way that they lived their whole life would be a wash. They would have no self identity and nothing to pray and repent for. It would be alot easier if people did not fear death, as it is a part of life, everything and everyone at some point dies. Death should not be a scary part of life, it is going to happen, the question is when. That is why i do not live my life fearing death, it will happen when it happens and hopefully i left this place a little better than before i was born!!
  7. Can you honestly imagine yourself ceasing to exist forever? I can't. I don't believe anyone. Do you?
  8. Awfully bereft of light for someone named 'Sunshine' -- the argument that death is not the end was overwhelmingly a philosophical one and NOT a religious one. You are just wrong there. 9. i do not fear death. i am born again, saved by the blood of Jesus i will spend eternity with him in peace. i do dread the death of those that reject Jesus. they will spend eternity in hellfire alone, tormented.
  10. Because they fear. Why can't people accept the fact that not everyone thinks or feels the same way?
  11. I hear the voice of a spirit that claims to be Godâ„¢. That might have something to do with it.
  12. Death is only the end of this life. There's stuff that comes after it. You choose what you want, eternal life and happiness, or to burn in the fires of hell for the rest of eternity. I choose the first choice. Which do you choose?
  13. Because death is not the end.Read the Geeta wherein Lord Krishna Himself declares death is not the end!
  14. You're confusing 2 different things. I don't have a fear of death yet I still do believe there is something after this life. I may not think that when we die, we go to an amusement park for eternity, I believe it is much more complex than that. I think there is a reason for everything. Everyone and Everything has a purpose in this life. Take a look for yourself. You have to think outside the box a little bit and don't bash people or try to come up with some kind of excuse to justify your own lack of beliefs.
  15. All you see is the death of the body. You have no clue as to whether or not mind dies as well. You won't know for a fact until you cross that threshold. You are correct about one thing: We should be mindful of death as it can come to us at any time, and we should make the best of the time we have before we cross over. How you spend that time is up to you. I spend it practicing Dharma. What are you doing to make your life meaningful? om mani padme hum
  16. Our most basic animal instincts are programmed to avoid death in every possible way, which includes believing crazy convoluted fairy tales if you think that raises your chances of avoiding or 'surviving' death even slightly.
  17. Because it's depressing to think about.
