  7. Go to your local bookstore and look through multiple Tarot Card books. They are very good at teaching you how to read the cards and memorize their meanings. It's done great for me.
  8. Up my butt and around the corner.
  9. Read a book called "Jung and the Tarot". This will give you incredible in-depth understanding about what it is, instead of all the rubbish people purvey about it. It's about as misunderstood as the bible.

  12. I might as well answer your Question because ... I have been a Tarot Reader for 7 years ! It was a joy ! Ok, here are the qualities necessary, according to my experience : - A love and respect for the Cards themselves. As they do seem to be a living entity. I am not joking. They do possess a certain power and a life of their own. So, choose the Pack of Cards well, take care of them, and consider them as your best friend. And always use the same Pack. Like this, a special energy is slowly growing and increasing in time. - After that you have to learn. There is no way around it. Purchase a very good manual, or several manuals, on how to read the Cards, and practice, practice, practice. Till the day that the meaning of each Cards is for you as simple and automatic as reading the Alphabet. You cannot have a Client before this level is attained. You have to learn Spreads as well naturally. - Next, be creative. Find one or several Methods that you know by now are working very well. Now, when I say be creative, it does not mean be imaginative. According to me, there is no room for imagination, let alone emotion, in Tarot Reading. It is all about technology, skill and procedure. Why ? If you are not self disciplined like this, you are going to project your own feelings or views unto the Clients. And this has to be avoided at all cost. - Another step to take is to advertise. And this is more important than it looks. Of course, in order to let people know that you are available. But also, because the way that you advertise is going to determine the kind of person that you are going to attract. In my case, I used to display, locally, a very neat Card, size A5, handmade, with Flowers and beautiful letters. How many times I heard : "Oh I saw your Card, it was lovely, and I thought, well the person who did that must be nice ...". This is a very good beginning for a Tarot Reading, sure ! - And of course, the most important part : the welcoming of the Client. I was so in awe of how people could trust me just like that, with their problems and concerns, that it always affected the way I welcame my Clients. I was grateful really. Next, to be completely unprejudiced, non judgemental, and impartial, is a must. Also the Ethic of Confidentiality is paramount. Never, never talk about your Clients to any body else. - The Session itself was always very relaxed and convivial. Simple. But this is a choice. There was no Decorum such as a candle, incense, fancy table clothe, etc. But a good cup of Tea ! And a comfortable, clean, peaceful, and totally private room. I am good at body language, and I am an Astrologer, and Numerologist. I used this during the Session. And people liked it. - What happened during each Sessions, was something Magical. There was the Client, with his/her concern, his/her trust, his/her openness. And myself with my good will. After that, it was out of our hands. I used to open the Session with a Prayer : "I ask the Universe to guide this Reading, and for the Cards to give us the information that ... needs to know at this point in time". And next, so this happened. I also paid very much attention intuitively, to small occurrences, that were clues to that which was going on. I never picked the Cards. My Client would pick the Cards. One at a time, with their left hand, etc. So it was like a Story or Scenario slowly building up. It used to fascinate them, because the Cards were very accurate. - Charge, but DO NOT over charge. It is so not right to over charge. And do NOT set a limit on time. My Clients could stay as long as they wished. At no extra cost. (Make this clear to them). Very often, they stayed as long as two to three hours. I was not tired. It was absolutely great. - I never recorded the Sessions. But they had plenty of time to take notes if they wished to. Or alternatively, I would send them the Reading printed afterward. POUF ! My pleasure Take care
  13. Usually there's a booklet included with the deck that will get you started but otherwise you can try various sources. Doing a net search for "Key to Tarot" turns up a few good books, and there are also websites that offer help, like Aeclectic Tarot ( www.aeclectic.net )
