- Try the online version, which is perfect and available 24/7. I suggest you jot down the meanings of each card and keep a Tarot diary of your readings. Reversed cards have a different meaning from the upright, and it will take time to memorize what the meanings are before you are able to give a good reading to someone else. There are several very good decks available, preferably the Rider-Waite edition as the symbolism in the artistry will help you more than other decks. Mystic Tarot will take you to a much deeper level, and right now you only need a few basic tools to get started. The Major Arcana represent forces coming into play that you have no control over. Minor arcana (almost the same as a regular deck of cards) deal mostly with daily events. The Star is the wish card in the Major Arcana. In the minor arcana, it can either be the 9cups or the 10cups. As the reader, you will have to decide by the other cards how matters will work out. More than one of any suit (maybe 2 Kings, 3 10s or any multiple) deals with numerology--the meaning of the number--will be important. Also, a reading that ends with a court card will be a reading that is undecided and will require a second reading using the end card as the Significator in order to clarify matters. Tarot can show you a timetable or a "when" "how" and "why" answers. Tarot cannot say yes or no. Usually, the deeper issue on your mind will be what Tarot picks up, not always the question you ask. Shorter but accurate spreads include a one card reading to answer a simple question, a 3 card reading is good for a relationship issue. It shows the past, present and outcome in only 3 cards. The Celtic spread is more advanced. You should primarily concentrate on the position of the card, the meaning of the card in that position and how the cards relate to the question. In this spread, it will prove to be vital that you write down your readings, what you "saw" happening and the results. The more you learn, the more you will see and understand the complexities and nuances of Tarot. I have studied it for over 35 years, and I can tell you the results can be astounding. One word of caution, though. The Tarot must not be used as a game. The Tarot cards are very sensitive to vibrations and must be kept covered in a cloth, such as a silk scarf, and hidden away so that others may not handle without your permission. You should mix up the cards very thoroughly and allow them to embrace your vibrations for two to three days--untouched--until you decide to use them. While they are "resting," read about the meanings of the cards and begin your "tips" on upright and reversed meanings by jotting them down. In time, you will learn how significant the small things really are. You should be careful to consider your question with thoughtfulness, such as, "What will happen to me when I go out tonight?" Being specific is the key to a good reading. For a single woman, a male court card in the upright position will mean that she (maybe you!) will meet someone interesting--only if this card lands in the 8th or the 10th position in a Celtic cross. Tarot is worth studying and I applaud your decision. You will not be disappointed. I personally guarantee it.
