- The major arcana represent the journey all of us take through life. See the link below on learn tarot. The minor arcana all have their own meanings, although the suits deal with specific things. Pentacles deal with money and material possessions. Wands deal with work or school. Swords deal with action and thought. Cups deal with emotions. The pictures in General can be taken at face value. You are supposed to examine the pictures and how they could represent something going on in your life. After you use them for a few months or years, you will come to know what they mean. That is really the only way to know what they mean.
- The pictures on Tarot cards are just the artists interpretation of each card. That is why every deck is different. The pictures have no meaning of their own.
- If you want to know the meaning of each card then I find http://www.paranormality.com/tarot_meanings.shtml a very good starting point. This is where I started when I began learning the cards.
- To make a long answer short, the pictures are meant to be part of the symbology which helps one with the interpretation/understanding of each card. Art decks however tend to be the exception because the images chosen are usually for purely aesthetic reasons. I am a tarot deck designer and every image that I put on each of my cards will always have a specific meaning and reason for being there. Joy to you, Maralee Fox-Heins
