How long should i wait before i use my Tarot cards?
After having such a good reading, I brought myself my first deck - Morgan Greer. It is such a beautiful deck and i am particularly drawn to The Queen of swords. I love this deck so much as it has beautiful depth that is amazing. I am quite spiritual now, after losing my mum to cancer. She came through to me in a medium reading, and i believe now, her spirit has moved on to the next life. What my question is, is how long should i wait before i use my cards, either on myself or for others? Is there any site i could go on that has in depth details of knowing what to do. Also, Is there a way of instructions that i should read the cards?? I know in time i will get used to my deck, but as for reading them, a little help would be excellent. Thanks so much

- I wouldn't start reading for others till you have learned the basics. but for yourself, why wait? Start with a 3 card spread, for you. it represents past, present and future.
- the deck should have come with a little booklet...read it. study your cards...perhaps meditate with them. my teacher told me to keep them under my pillow for a few days to help get them in tune with me...it seemed to work pretty well. bb
- Oh dear. Please do not be taken in by these guys. Tarot readers, crystal ball readers, and mediums are all charlatans. They use a well-known technique called cold-reading. This technique can be used by anyone and can be very convincing. People like Derren Brown have demonstrated how people can be fooled by this.
- Ask the cards

- You can read at any time. What you want to wait on is asking the cards the same question. That is not such a good idea, for you will just confuse yourself. A good book to get is Mary K Greer's 'Tarot for Yourself'. Anything you find written by her is wonderful. BUT, the best way to learn, start a journal. It is ok to write the book meanings, and anything else you find. The action of writing help to soak stuff up. Also in writing, you will have your own thoughts on what the card is telling you in that particular situation, you definitely want to write those thoughts down. Not all tarot readers are con-artists. I read for myself and for others and not in a way that 'tells the future'. I also do not do 'cold readings'. Most readings I do, I know nothing about the person, I do not 'read' body language for most of my readings are done on-line. I do not 'feed' of their responses, for they are generally not there to feed off of.
