Do you think Tarot cards are evil or are they just innocent guides? Can they be used recreationally or for fun

I am sixteen years old and have recently developed an interest in Tarot cards and am looking to buy a deck of my own and learning how to read them. But then I did some internet research on them and found that some people believe the cards are the ‘Devil’s playthings’ and that Satan works in the cards to make the predictions. I have heard about the cards’ mysterious origins and their relationship with the Occult, but I didn’t think anybody actually thought Satan manipulated the cards. I'm not a Christian person so don’t usually worry about Satan or God but my grandmother is a very dedicated Christian. I've also heard that the Occult is demonic or Satanic in nature from web pages set up by church members but when I looked up how people use the cards day to day I found a lot of stories from people who use the cards and from those who believe they do actually work and can help them sometimes. It seemed a much more innocent perspective. I now don't believe it's Satanic, but what do u think?

  1. Evil, evil, no, satanic http://www.chick.com/reading/tracts/0045/0045_01.asp
  2. Who really finds those lame cards fun?? They're just printed cardboard, that's it...
  3. Careful: There is power in suggestion whether you believe in it's power or not. You'll find out. Something good will happen to you tomorrow. Now if something good happens tomorrow that will be all the proof your mind needs to draw a conclusion that there was power at work in my forecast. See how suggestible the mind is?
  4. its based on word association"some time in the future you will be happy".....its bullshyt
  5. Nope. Just like everything else, it's been turned into a toy.
  6. * Tarot Cards Are Not evil , they just show you how you re doing in life an how you may do in the future . . . Christians will Automatically say ''Yes ! Evil ! '' Go Figure . . . * Tarot cards are Man made Not Devil Manifactured . . .
  7. they're not satanic it's just a fun thing to do. but i thought it was boring, looking up all the meanings and everything.
  8. I'm 18, I'm a Chistian, and I have a deck that i use just for fun. It's just cool to see what the cards say about you, ya know? So yes, I use them for fun and recreational purposes, they aren't my life lines. They're just neat. You can buy a deck for 20$ at Barnes & Noble, Borders, or any other book store like that.
  9. do you think the predictions are just coincidence? i know they are demonic! be careful!
  10. it kinda depends on what UR beliefs r.trust me they r very weird and if u have evr met a pro who does all that stuff, its very weird.it is liked to witchcraft, and it does work,if u go to the right person they tell u the weirdest thing that r tru,
  11. Revelation 21:8 But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice ***magic arts***, the idolaters and all liars—their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death."
  12. HAHAHA theyre not evil geeeeez.
  13. Yes, I do believe that the cards are Satanic. If you mess with the spirits, they will mess with you. You need to ask yourself this...from where does the "guidance" come? It has to come from somewhere. Beware.
  14. Stay off the internet. My Tarot cards are pretty accurate when I do a reading. They can be innocent fun or for recreational purposes. Oh, I had one friend who said, what makes you think God (for those who believe) isn't guiding the cards. I like scaring Christians with them.
  15. they are pieces of card with pictures on them hardly evil I use them for guidance , have been reading them since I was a kid , teach people how to read them and never once had anything negative come from them however divination is warned about in the bible but the tarot can even be linked to the bible and there are other methods of divination in the bible that gets conveniently forgotten about ( lots )
  16. it evil.. that not of god... and yes Satan will use what you call innocent thing against you... good and god bless you and I'll pray for you but if i was you I'll stop it
  17. Tarot cards were originally made for card games such as Tarocchi that had nothing to do with divination whatsoever. They're actually quite fun. Since I use them, I obviously have no problem with them. I find them helpful, but they are not inherently evil, because I can do the same thing with a pack of playing cards. There's no difference, really.
  18. Anything that determines future by the use of probability is hoax. Take a standard deck of playing cards and make each card mean something. Now parallel that to tarot. Now are you convinced it should determine your guidance? Use logic and choose wisely through life or else you will be guided through predestination of chance.
  19. The Bible says such things as tarot cards and Ouija (Wee-Ja) boards are tools of Satan and Witches. While I do believe in Satan, I'm so certain there are still REAL Witches among us. Anyway, I was never allowed to go near those things growing up and it stuck, I kept my kids away from them too. Using them is supposed to put the user(s) at risk of inviting evil spirits into their homes or even their bodies.
  20. the cards use archetypes and symbolism to express very basic patterns in life. but in order to use the cards properly you need to be able to use and trust your intuition, which has no basis in anything satanic. when you focus on your question and lay your cards out the symbols in them will describe a pattern in your life. when you recognize the pattern you can either go with it or choose to change it. so the cards can be a tool if you wish to use them that way. that's all they are how ever you choose to use them. symbols to focus on......nothing evil or satanic about it........just like there is nothing satanic about your dreams......or the symbolism in them.
  21. The Bible strongly condemns the practice of spiritism, mediums, occult, psychics, etc. (Leviticus 20:27; Deuteronomy 18:10-13). Horoscopes, tarot cards, astrology, fortune tellers, palm readings, séances, etc., fall into this category as well. These practices are based on the concept that there are gods, spirits, or deceased loved ones that can give you advise and guidance. These “gods” or “spirits” are demons (2 Corinthians 11:14-15). The Bible gives us no reason to believe that deceased loved ones can, or would even want to contact us. If they were believers, they are in heaven, enjoying the most wonderful place imaginable – in fellowship with a loving God. If they were not believers, they are in hell, suffering the un-ending torment for rejecting God’s love and rebelling against Him. So, if our loved ones cannot contact us, how do mediums, spiritists, psychics, etc. get such accurate information? There have been many “exposes” on psychics. It has been exposed how a psychic can gain immense amounts of information on a person through ordinary means. Sometimes by just using a telephone number through caller ID and then an internet search, a psychic can get names, addresses, dates of birth, dates of marriage, family members, etc. However, it is undeniable that psychics sometimes know things that should be impossible for them to know. Where do they get this information? The answer is - Satan and his demons. 2 Corinthians 11:14-15 tells us, “And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. It is not surprising, then, if his servants masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve.” Acts 16:16-18 describes a fortune teller who was able to predict the future until the Apostle Paul rebuked a demon out of her. Satan pretends to be kind and helpful. He tries to appear as something good. Satan and his demons will give a psychic information about a person, in order to get that person hooked into spiritism – something that God forbids. It appears innocent at first, but soon a person finds himself addicted to psychics – allowing Satan to control and destroy their life. 1 Peter 5:8 proclaims, “Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour." In most cases, the psychics themselves are likely deceived, not knowing the true source of the information they receive. Whatever the case, and wherever the source of the information – nothing connected to spiritism, witchcraft, astrology, etc. is God’s intention for us as a means to discover information. How does God want us to discern His will for our life? Simple: (1) Study the Bible (2 Timothy 3:16-17), (2) Pray for wisdom (James 1:5). So in short, it is wrong and just remember that EVERY choice you make will have a consiquence, wither it's good or bad there will be a consiquence. So whatever you sow, you will reep. So if you sow bad apples seeds then you will get bad apples. Today is a blessed day, so YOU make it a good one!
  22. Hi There -- Please don't let those fanatical ravings disturb you or put you off "the occult" in general, or the Tarot in particular. The term "occult" merely means "hidden" -- It was used NOT because the practices were evil; But rather, because they were considered *sacred*, powerful, and therefore to be handled with care, respect, discretion, and wisdom. And those who claim the Bible "condemns" such things have not studied their Bible enough -- In fact, there are many POSITIVE references to magic, divination and similar practices in the bible -- for example: "the Bible has "neutral or positive references to a wide range of magical and divinatory practices." (Joanne Kuemmerlin-McLean, "Magic: Old Testament," in David Freedman, ed., _The Anchor Bible Dictionary_, 6 vols, 4:469) - JACOB's MAGICK RODS: (Genesis 30:37)- - JOSEPH's DIVINING CUP: (Gen 44:2,5) - CASTING LOTS: The God of Israel commanded his people to cast lots (Leviticus 16:8- 10; , and the Hebrews chose priests and other temple workers (1 Chron. 24:5, 25:8, 26:13), (and much later (Acts 2:24-26) the apostles of Jesus chose new apostles) -- by casting lots. *Not* a vote by ballot, the biblical casting of lots was outwardly identical to sortilege/ divination practiced throughout the ancient world by Pagans who sought to know the will of their various gods." (M'Clintock and Strong, _Cyclopaedia of Biblical Theology_, 5:519-20; Jones, _Magic and the Old Testament" 545) "Judaising" Magic: The _Encyclopaedia Judaica_ observed: "While repudiating the power of sorcery, biblical religion at times utilizes means and methods which were borrowed from magical practice --" but as Jewish scholar Jacob Neusner has noted: "Judaizing magic made it no less magical." (Jacob Neusner, "The Wonder Working Lawyers of Talmudic Babylonia: The theory and practice of Judaism in its Formative Age") For more on this, please see: Biblical, CHRISTIAN MAGICK: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Witch_Essentials/message/1424 * * * Now, about the Tarot: Actually, the cards are more often used for personal spiritual development, than for any sort of "fortune telling" --in fact, that's considered a MISuse of the cards by many who have mastered them and use them frequently: BEWARE any sites or books that focus upon that use (fortune-telling) exclusively. Here are some good resources on the cards: BOOKS: "Tarot for Yourself" by Mary K Greer "PIctorial Key to the Tarot" www.antiqbook.co.uk/boox/cot/BOOKS008412I.shtml INTERNET SITES: http://www.sacred-texts.com/tarot/index.htm You might also join the following Yahoo Group which has many who use Tarot and would be happy to help you get started -- http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Witch_Essentials/ Good luck and Blessings -- ~Gaia
  23. If they have no power behind them, how do they work? If there is no power behind them, you could just collect Happy Meal toys or something instead. If there is a power behind them, it is certainly worth considering exactly WHO it is you have invited into your house and your bed, now isn't it? Your cards are not working because your Grandmother is praying for you. Long may she live. Fairelight
