How to break in a new cartomancy deck (Tarot practitioners)?

I recently made a deck of cards to use for prediction and divination. They're not Tarot cards; instead, I prefer geomancy as my method of divination. Regardless, the tool is the same. For you Tarot and other cartomancy practitioners out there, how did you "break in" or get to know your cards better? Did you shuffle them for an hour straight? Did you consecrate them to some deity? Did you sleep with them for a week? Do tell.
