Mystical Angels

How do those mystical creatures, in your opinion, age?

I've been wondering for so many years how those "fairy tale" creatures (like elves) manage to live forever, but stop growing at a certain age... etc. How does that work, do you think? I have my own theories.

1. I think that some of it has to do with a way of thinking, like they have tired of being a child or do not want to be adult so they stay the way they want. Maybe its in the genes or maybe they need to stay young and nimble to stay away from us and protect the colony
2. i dont noe how many answerers here will take you seriously, but since i like fantasy fiction as well as science, let me give it a stab uh, well theres a mathematical/scientific possibility: the body's celluar breakdown and regeneration cycles into infinity, in which there is a relative maximum in that certain young age (think radioactive isotopes, or in a math function that approaches a said number, but never actually does) also, another scientific possibility is hormones, which like humans, dictate certain functions of our body, including size if i'm not mistaken

4. I would say they their mystical tribal powers will let them to either: 1)Stop growing at their most matured age. 2)Do some sort of spell to stop growing anytime they want. ya. that' my view.
