What is the best Pokemon team in Pokemon Platinum?

Me and my friends are going to hold a competition using the ds pokemon games. I'm using platinum, and want suggestions for a team. We're not using any legendaries, and all of these pokemon have to be pre-national dex. I know i want to start w/ chimchar, and i need a good flying type and water type. i also wanna know the best non-legendary psychic type, and which eevee evolution is best. im not too keen on using a grass type, especially if i have a good electric type. also, are either alteria or togekiss any good?

1. if where you i used chimchar Murkrow evolotion and the best non legendary psychic type poekmon is Ralts last evolution evee best evolution is the Glaceon in electric type i would choose Electivire

There is no "best team" it depends on the players tactics in the battle, but I can help with choices So for your starter you have Infernape Flying: -Staraptor (extremely powerful attack, great speed and very easy to get) -Togekiss (great speed and high special attack) -Gliscor (you definitely should consider this over Altaria for its defence, combined with it's good typing [Ground and Flying] it's definitely an option) Psychic: -Alakazam (hands down the best Psychic available in the game) -Gallade (if you prefer his physical attack but if not get Alakazam) Grass: -Roserade (the only one you need to consider for it's impressive Sp. Atk. it isn't necessary, but a grass type move will more than likely be necessary at some point) Water: -Gyarados (super attack, high HP and good Sp Def your best Water option, make sure to give it physical moves such as Waterfall and Aqua Tail) -Empoleon (decent if you can't get your hands on a Gyarados but pretty slow) Eevee - all of it's evolutions serve a purpose but the ones YOU should consider are: -Vaporeon (It has HP and Sp Atk. it can take hits and dish them out, consider if you need a decent water type) -Jolteon (for Speed and Sp. Atk it can be really useful if you are lacking an electric type, it's among the best) -Umbreon (if you don't have a Wall get Umbreon. It's purely defensive and does a good job of it) The other Eeveelutions are not good enough Those are just a few types though, there are more, message me if you need more help
