What do you guys believe about Faeries? The Mystical kind.?

Serious answers are the most helpful. I'm asking because I am writing a story. I would like to introduce something new to my readers. New, but not unbelievable. I need some opinions, honest opinions. I don't want to limit my feedback, but I don't really want a recap of the Disney Fairies like Tinker Bell in Peter Pan, but maybe some of you have read something more interesting about Faeries that is directed at an older audience and have something to say about these mystical beings. If you don't have any beliefs, then what would make Faeries more tangible beings for you? I appreciate all of your feedback. Thank you in advance for taking this question seriously.

1. well if it helps faeries or sprites as they are spelled fae-ry would make them from the fae or like ireland in your spelling. fairys are different i think. faerys are more like leprauchauns faerys are more like mischevious little pixies.
2. you could try this site.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fairy it might help :) other than that, im not sure. to tell you the truth, i started to write a novel on faeries also, and im stuck too.
