1. its for u to decide whether its imp or not. I can only say that horoscope knowledge can predict the married life if u approach a good astrologer.
2. Probably moreso than in arranged marriages because you are going on an IMPULSE and not always THINKING, but more going by FEELING. So it's at least equally important to get an objective opinion about the relationship via a synastry (horocope matching) reading, by someone who actually knows what they are doing (ie. don't use the kutam nakshatra system for a love marriage!)
3. If you are willing to marry the man even if some thing adverse comes up in the astrological calculation than go for it. If you are not in a position to back out of the relationship than whats the fun of going in for the 'horror scope' matching ?
