What does Yahoo! Answers think about Astrology. Why is Horoscopes section placed in Entertainment and Music?

I mean, does Yahoo! Answers consider Astrology as nothing but Entertainment? I personally respect Astrology as a Science that is important to understand to gain clear awareness of our path through life so that we can do better in life. And then I am amazed at the fact that Yahoo! Answers placed the Horoscopes section under the Section Entertainment and Music. Friends please share your views with me.

  1. because people come here to rant and stereotype instead of learn about real astrology, that's why it's under the entertainment section.
  2. It is in its correct place. Everyone gets excited by the prospect of knowing their future which is nothing but guesswork. So Entertainment seems correct topic.
  3. You may or may not believe in Astrology and that's totally up to you, but Astrology is not a science. It's normally considered an art or a belief system. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astrology for more details. In order to become a science, a great deal of well designed studies proving a causal relationship between the date of birth and events happening in your life would be required. As mentioned on Wikipedia's page, it seems like every serious attempt to do it failed miserably.
  4. i dont consider it a science, maybe it could be in society & culture, but definitely not a science. but after all, this section is called horoscopes, like the ones in the magazines, this is definitely entertainment
  5. ALL psychics, fortune tellers, palm readers and the like are BY LAW required to display a sign in their place of business or in their advertising that states their services are "For Entertainment Purposes Only"... The reason is that these people can show NO PROOF that what they claim to do is something that they can actually DO for real. It is one thing to claim you can predict the future, but it is a completely different thing to actually DO it. Astrology makes such claims, predicting the future based on things from your past and is therefore, entertainment in the eyes of the law since they can show NO proof that what they predict is accurate or true. As Bugs Bunny says, "Wotta a maroon!!" You say you respect astrology as a science, so I ask. how so? What makes it a science for you? For me a science is an experiment, one that anyone can perform and achieve the SAME result no matter who they are or where they are located, to be specific, repeatable results! Under ANY circumstances! I have YET to see any fortune teller repeat accurate results, including any astrologer you care to name. You need to go to http://www.randi.org and apply for the million dollar prize James Randi is offering for ANY proof that anything supernatural, paranormal or psychic actually WORKS as advertised. If it really DOES work as you claim as a science, then it will have repeatable results which can be verified under scrutiny at any time in any place and you will get a million dollars as a result! THAT is MY view...
  6. It is sad that a beautiful science like astrology has been relegated to entertainment section. It is a science based on planets and astronomy. It is well known that moon affects water levels on earth. If a small heavenly body can affect, then huge planets like jupiter and saturn do affect in a great manner. Ppl disregard this science because of few rogues who misuse it for minting money and dont even know the basics of astrology. Hope it regains its glory and is respected by ppl again.
  7. Science? You must be joking!!
  8. Dear one, some fools in the world are available as you and I
  9. In many places there are laws and these laws are old and outdated but still on the books. All occult stuff is usually under entertainment. It is a blanket to protect the stupid readers who make stupid claims and give the rest of us a bad reputation.
  10. I agree with Rowlife that legally Yahoo has to put it under entertainment as it can't be put under science because there is no scientific evidence of whatever Astrology has to say BUT dear Rowlife there are a few things around everyone's life that carry no proof. There is a personal experience that i can share, when i was at medical school an astrologer told my family that i would never put my knowledge to use, today I am a manager by my own choice working for a Retail firm. I had no clue about what this guy had said until last year when my sister accidently recollected this. There was no reason for him to say this, none whatsoever. An old gran in my friends family had predicted his grandson's wife would be an opposite in temperament to his grandson who was known for his reckless, impulsive and short-tempered behaviour and that his wife will have mole on her left cheek, all this is a fact today not that he went about looking for a girl with these parameters. Forget astro dear, 100 years ago could we think of landing on the moon or talking to someone in Tokyo from the US at the whisk of our fingre, knowledge changes, facts change, science becomes broader. No one can prove why one loves someone and hates another in some 5mins of their meeting, it happens deep in your mind. There is always more than meets the eye.
