Have you ever practice Reiki? Any tips for improvement?

For those who haven't heard, it is a spiritual healing method to heal the people physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well being by using the universal energy that surrounds us everyday. I got a book about it, "Reiki for Dummies" and it's very useful for educating to people about chakras, manifestation, distant and close contact healing. I have been practicing it for two days and it already helps me with sours, headaches, etc. All I need is a Reiki Master to train me in person and i'm all good. And since I meditate everyday for 7.5 mouths, I have no problems getting that energy. Is there anyway to improve my Reiki methods besides meditation? Like any special diets, exercise or other activities among those lines?

  1. I practice Therapeutic Touch which is in the same family of "energy healing" as Reiki. It is amazing! I can tell you that I read all the books, but nothing is truly like being taught by a proper teacher. I've taken all 3 levels and now meet with a regular practice group. TT has a national registry, I would presume that Reiki does too. If you are truly interested, take the classes and then practice often (I believe they call their practice groups, "reiki shares").
  2. We had a reiki meet up group met across the hall from one of my book groups - so maybe if you tried meet up.com you would be able to find a group to work with...
  3. And in case you haven't heard - Reiki is a placebo treatment only. There is no evidence for 'universal energy', and in fact the word 'energy' is being misused by proponents who clearly have no concept of science or physics. Energy is an attribute of something - a measurement of something's capability to do work, eg; force x distance. Please consider: No one has ever observed or measured this 'universal energy'. We have a very good understanding of energy, and 'universal energy' is considered implausible. It cannot be explained how this alleged 'energy' is a healing 'energy' only, and not dangerous. It cannot be explained how special people are able to manipulate the 'energy'. Reiki cannot beat placebo in rigorous clinical trials. Please read the wiki article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reiki The only measurable effect of Reiki is it's ability to lighten wallets - and this has unfortunately already happened to you. I'm refraining from making any comments about the title of that book...
