IS going to a fortune teller a sin?
I recently went to a renaissance fair and met a fortune teller. I was very interesting and a lot of fun. Is it really a sin? The woman told me to give my cares to God and to pray to Jesus and that. She also gave me a psalm that I should recite as a mantra. Didn't sound very satanic to me. What do you think?

- It's only a sin if you enjoy it.
- they are actuall government agents and robots in disguise with glowing balls and tarrot cards
- No, but fortune tellers are a fraud and waste of money!
- who cares? everything you do is a sin
- No, it's a con. But she told you good.
- No it is not a sin, it is just entertainment.
- Just be careful. It is in the bible that we should not consult such people.
- I bet she also said "Give your money to me though!" ;-) There should be no attraction to such things for a Christian. Mic 5:12 And I will cut off witchcrafts out of thine hand; and thou shalt have no [more] soothsayers:
- It's considered a sin, because it means u r putting ur trust (and ur turning to) powers not from God. Im not saying this to be mean, it's fact.
- Kind of general question no? Depends who you ask. If you ask a christian then yes. Non-Christians a lot will say no. Some will say yes. Athiests don't care either way.
- i don't think its a sin, just a bit of fun, take it all with a pinch of salt
- everything is a sin if you take the bible seriously. if everything in that book were true than taking a pee would send you to hell. stop being ignorant. live life by what you feel is right. being god or anybody else can fault you for being an honset person living to owhat you belive is right. forget that book its just a bunch of fairy tales.
- God's perfect word instructs us to kill these people. Exodus 22:18 Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live. You cannot argue with the perfect word of the King James Bible.
- its dangerous to expose yourself to those things. why dont you just pray and seek God's wisdom instead of some person starring into your sweaty palm?
- Some say yes, some say no. The biggest concern is, whether you will keep faith in God till the very end.
- LoL..... Tell me her/his address too I Dont think it is a sin. Such special powers are gifted by God then why will God punish someone if he gets to know something through those powers. Use Mind! take cares...
- Yes it is. the bible said that any involvement of the devils tool is a sin. fortune teller is when devils tell them their future. Repent
- I'm pretty sure it isn't but of course some religious fanatic who will damn you to hell.
- You people in R/S are P/S (polls and surveys)worst enemy >:P You creep us all out!
- Yes it is...it is trusting in stars or tea leaves or something else about your future than God..looking to created than the Creator....even though she said God and Jesus and stuff doesnt make it right. We are not to be involvedi n such stuff...
- I went to one. It probably is a sin, but I needed relief. God forgives. >>>
- Thou shal not worship false gods or prophets. false prophet = fortune teller worship is an act of praise, so in other words if you believe in the fortune tellers 'powers' and are obsessed with finding out yer future thats bad. if you just go for fun than it should be ok.
- i wouldnt recite the psalm as a mantra, but you can ask Jesus to forgive you of your sins and let Him come into your heart. i also would not visit fortunetellers for any further advice. they are called enchanters in scripture and are an abomination to God. I'll give you a couple good verses to focus on and that will help u understand who Jesus really is Colossians 1:14-17 "In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist."
- I am a Muslim (Obviously). My religion is probably different from yours, as well as my beliefs. So, what I am telling you is based on just EXPERIENCE. In my religion, at least, yes it is one of the hugest sins. In Christianity, too. If you are athiest or not really religious, it is still bad for you mentally/psychologically and makes you believe crap and takes away your money. Anyways, all I know is that I traveled back home two summers ago, and it wasnt a very fun trip. Let me tell you why, and God knows best about what happened there. Long story short: I met a lot of fortune tellers in my city, and my aunt introduced me to the act of fortune telling itself. I was very interested immediately, and before you know it, I was in the act of it. She took me to a world-famous fortune teller and that place was like hell, her house was big but it was like a prison cell and very choking-ish. I had to wait in a small room with other women, and believe it or not, they all had a very religious demeanor, as though they were very religious. When she called my name, her servant that is, she took me to the "grand" lady's room. Inside there were curtains and she pulled them aside, and made me sit down next to the lady. This lady was faaaar from human. She had on gray clothes, gray eyes, gray hair, eyebrows- everything. And what scared me the most was how she glanced at me, like she knows everything. She told me to calm down and everything. And before I could speak she said my name, she said my age, she said my birthdate- all true. I was amazed and interested. She said a lot of crap, and some came true and some didnt. I swear by my life, when I walked out that house, I felt like I could actually breathe. It's place was swarmed with demons. But anyways, I dont want to yack your head off. Point is, after I came back from my vacation there came came alot of bad luck, all from the bad karma. I dont know what that fortune teller told you, but believe me just going to anyone instead of almight God for your help and questions, can really bring your life down, and mentally/psychologically it will get you hooked to that stuff, and THAT can be harmful for you in many more ways than just one. She may have made it seem very harmful,But looks can be decieving and what that fortune teller told you are lies- tricks to make you believe she is very religious and "with" God, the Almighty. This is a sin, and if you are not religious or for whatever your beliefs may be, just know that it brings NO benefits to you. I felt like it was my duty to tell you this. PLEASE do not go to any fortune tellers like this or any other again. They get paid for deceiving, lying and making you believe complete *shit*. They want to trick you, and atleast in Islam, they are frowned upon. Money can be made in many ways, and they are not forced to do this. And those that do, they often may come up with some true facts- but you shouldnt ever put your life into their hands. I hope you take my advice in the future and anyone else reading this, and I hope that you remain OK and nothing bad happens. Dont worry though, it was a one-time thing, I did it too, so were in the same boat :) Good Luck Hon!
