Ideas for some names and places in my story?

Okay, as you probably already know from my other hundred or so questions on this subject, I'm writing a fantasy story. I've had a couple complaints on the details, and one on the name of my main character. So here's the names that I need ideas for: 1. The name of a strange underwater creature called an Armiri. My original name for him? Felix. It doesn't seem very foreign or mystical, does it? Also, if you wish, you may inclose a description along with it. Some character traits or whatever. Go crazy. 2. The name of the city he lives in. I was thinking something enchanting, maybe Esmeralda or Maglidon. 3. My main character. She's a wanderer and has been very out-of-place since her mother's death two years ago. I chose Rina, but again, suggestions are welcome. 4. Her dad. Very strict, very grumpy, not around the house much. Trying to forget his wife's death. a boater 5. Any other name ideas are welcome; no matter how many are already posted there's always room for mo kk ur ideas so far are great, wow! but just to remind you the girl and her dad are normal; they live in present-day and shouldn't have too far-out names. it's the armiri that should have weirder names, k? : ) thanks i appreciate it

1. 1. Felix means 'lucky' in latin actually :) I've always liked the Hydra as a name for a sea monster personally. Perhaps Beucephalus, Alexander the Great's horse. 2. I think maybe Magnum Mare - literally, 'big sea' 3. Could use Odyssea, feminine version of Odysseus. Possibly Tiresia - Tiresias in mythology spent some time as a woman, was blinded by Diana and given the gift of prophecy by Apollo. 4. Seneca - stoic philosopher, tutor to Nero(IIRC) who had him commit suicide.
2. 1. definitely NOT felix. it makes the story seem too generic, and from what you said, this really ain't your average story. If you have a Mac computer, there's a Dashboard app that'll generate names for fantasy stories. the creature's name should reflect it's character traits. I don't exactly know what an Armiri is, but i'd try some of these names: --MALE- Eldron Thendol Scirute Olrek Gelfen Pelior -FEMALE- Eldra Arvene Eothena Aryana 2. I agree with you, try these: Cyrodiil Hyrule Deltora by the way, the Dashboard widget also generates place names. 3. Try some of the above names, but as i said, don't sample real-world names too much. 4. Oleg, Sarbek, Ferkdor, Darves, and other names like that. 5. good luck. your story seems really great. have fun!
