Asatruar, Heathens, Forn Siðr, etc...?
I am looking for a good book on Runes. Most of the books I have found are what one would expect to find in a book about Tarot Cards. I'm not sure why Runes are labeled the same as the Cards. So my question is - Are there ANY good books about the Runes? History, Uses, etc? What the??? It wanted to put this in Sports > Handball... how the hell do you get Handball out of anything here?

- Anything by Stephen Pollington will guarantee you a scientific approach, supported with a lot of historic sources. I recommend "Rudiments of Runelore". A friend of mine (Noddy T.) often recommends "Anglo-Saxon Runes" by John Kemble, but knowing his taste I would imagine that's a bit too specific for a beginner. If you're looking for a strictly factual approach, I urge you to stay away from Edred Thorsson, Ralph Blum, Diana Paxson and the likes - these are neopagan interpretations of runes and while they are often well-received and highly praised among modern pagan magic practitioners, they lack some historic credibility. DEFINITELY stay away from Freya Aswynn, her books are just plain crap.
- Rune Net putt's out the best beginner rune book I have seen. No fantasy's or pulling information from questionable orifices, just what is actually known about the runes. http://www.mackaos.com.au/Rune-Net/
