What is Alchemy (as a pseudo-science but also as a spiritual allegory and mystical discipline)?

A medieval chemical philosophy having as its asserted aims the transmutation of base metals into gold, the discovery of the panacea, and the preparation of the elixir of longevity. In other words, believing certain metals such as lead could turn into gold. Spiritually? well since spiritual's definition is "religious", and religion is the belief of supernatural powers/god, then alchemy defines itself :) mystical? mysticism is an immediate consciousness of the transcendent or ultimate reality or God. Alchemy, again, defines itself :/ Alchemy is purely philosophical, supernatural, and is not in the least scientific; which is why alchemy is regarded as pseudo-science
