Why are horoscopes, palm reading, tarot cards, and fortune-telling considered as wrong?

  1. Well if you honor the bible as the word of God, yes, it's considered wrong. The bible teaches all these things of are of the occult, and the occult is the realm of satan.
  2. It's not considered wrong, it's considered a bunch of BS. Please look up the Barnum Effect.
  3. Because the majority of people who do those things are better known as con artists. They rip people off for their money and tell you what you want to hear
  4. They don't work Only nut jobs and liars do those things
  5. Same reasons people consider religions to be wrong because there is no evidence to back them up. I do believe that humans have or have the potential for psychic abilities, but I do not go preaching about it blindly since I have no evidence. It is just my theory.
  6. Christians (and Jewish people) consider it immoral to seek supernatural assistance outside of God. According to those moral standards, any supernatural being that is not a servant of God is necessarily evil; at the very least, it smacks of idolatry; at the worst, it relies on the power of the Devil instead of the power of God. 7. I might point out that horoscopes and Astrology are Biblical, and mentioned by God in Job 38, where He asks if mankind can create (and control) the things He has created: "Canst thou bind the sweet influences of Pleiades, or loose the bands of Orion? Canst thou bring forth Mazzaroth in his season? or canst thou guide Arcturus with his sons? Knowest thou the ordinances of heaven?" "Mazzaroth" is a Babylonian word for astrology. He is asking if mankind has fully understood His system of Astrology, which of course Bronze Age man had probably not mastered yet, although the earliest civilizations were working on it at the time. How do you get beyond this clear mention in the Old Testament? Even at Jesus' birth, three "kings" who were actually astrologers had "seen his star in the east."
  8. Mediums/… “And in case they should say to you people ‘Apply to the spiritistic mediums or to those having a spirit of prediction who are chirping and making utterances in low tones, is it not to its God that any people should apply? Should there be application to dead persons in behalf of living persons?” Isaiah 8 v 19 “Do not turn yourselves to the spirit mediums and do not consult professional foretellers of events, so as to become unclean by them. I am Jehovah your God. Leviticus 19 v 31. See chapter 20 v 6, 7. “There should not be found in you…one who binds others with a spell or anyone who consults a spirit medium or a professional foreteller of events or anyone who inquires of the dead. For everybody doing these things is something detestable to Jehovah, and on account of these detestable things Jehovah your God is driving them away from before you” Deuteronomy 18 v 11,12. Fortune telling and wicked spirits go hand in hand and when the spirit leaves so does the art of prediction/… “And it happened that as we were going to the place of prayer, a certain servant girl with a spirit, a demon of divination, met us. She used to furnish her masters with much gain by practising the art of prediction. This girl kept following Paul and us and crying out with the words ‘These men are slaves of the Most High God, who are publishing to you the way of salvation.’ This she kept doing for many days. Finally Paul got tired of it and turned and said to the spirit ‘I order you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her’ And it came out that very hour. Well, when her masters saw that their hope of gain had left, they laid hold of Paul and Silas and dragged them into the marketplace to the rulers.” Acts 16 v 16-19. Does not come from God/… “For these nations whom you are dispossessing used to listen to those practising magic and to those who divine, but as for you, Jehovah your God has not given you anything like this. Judgement/… “But as for the cowards and those without faith and those who are disgusting in their filth and murderers and fornicators and those practising spiritism and idolaters and all the liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulphur. This means the second death”. Revelation 21 v 8. Seeking the uncanny power and demons is constituting siding with Satan 1 Chronicles 10 v 13, 14 and 1 Samuel 15 v 23
  9. These things have connections to the underworld or evil spirit forces. Therefore forbidden by God.
  10. our dependents should be on Jesus not things of this world.
  11. because they are all of 'pagan' origin or involved in the pagan beleifs in some way or another, and christianty, does not like paganism
