I dont care. It's a proven fact that IQ's are no gauge of a man's character or spiritual integrity. I'm a Christian with an IQ of 138 but that doesnt mean as much as the fact that I beleive in God. I'll say a prayer for you and your attitude.

Einstein believed in a God but in a different form, not what we are accustomed to. He believed in a universal form of energy. God is true but again he is not a form like man but a different entity. Most of the people with high IQ who denounces God can be a result of their arrogance. They have too much confidence in their intellect that they could not allow somebody greater than they are. As simple as that. One can believe in God without having to have a religion.

What about Francis Collins? Leader of the human genome project who is now a Christian. For that matter assuming that people who are Christians are not intelligent is just stupidity on your part. I am a Christian. I am also intelligent. I have a bachelor's and master's degree in biological sciences. I am currently working on a PhD in the same. I do believe it required a good deal of intelligence on my to make it this far. Saying all Christians are stupid is akin to saying all atheists are immoral. Neither statement is true.
Why do some of you Atheists feel the need to constantly talk down to and about others? If that is your belief then fine. But others do not have to think the way you do. Dont care how smart you think you are. When this life ends it wont matter. And you can be as intelligent as anyone in this world, but no one truly knows if there will be anything after we die. But I for one, would rather live life believing in God, and living morally right and such. When I die I dont lose either way. It doesnt cost me anything even if God does not exist. If God does happen to exist, then well, some of you are screwed. And saying that some book smart Atheists dont believe in God doesnt prove anything. I have an IQ of 140. I've always believed in God because I am intelligent enough to be able to see that even simple biological functions are far too complicated and perfect for them to be the mere product of evolution. All generalities are dangers, even this one. Saying that ALL people with a genius IQ is an atheist is ridiculous. I also highly doubt that the link you provided is a valid one. It does, after all, say ESTIMATED IQ's of famous people. It also doesn't say whether each one was an Atheist or a Theist. I have no problem with Atheists, but I do believe you should check your facts before attacking Theists.
The biggest problem I have is with scientist who consider themselves theists. They either use it for it's grabbing power, or they are not using to the fullest something that they should hold dear. The scientific method.

I was part of a school program only open to people with an IQ of at least 135, and I am religious. I was raised Christian and converted to Wicca. I know several other people who were part of the program are also still religious. BTW, misquoting people is NOT impressive. Einstein did say he was an athiest. he said "From the viewpoint of a Jesuit priest I am, of course, and have always been an atheist." It does not matter. Belief in God is not about intelligence. I know many intelligent people (atheist and religious) who are book smart but lack common sense. So, how can one relate intelligence with God if one has a high IQ but has common sense of a child? I see the lack of common sense coming from your question. It assumes that a high IQ results in atheism. That is an illogical assumption. Thus, it lacks common sense.

Why do u ask only Christians ? There r Muslims and Jews , who also believe in the presence of God. What u have said doesn't proove that all the smart ppl r athiest. Please don't bother the Fundies with facts like that. It upsets them and causes them to read "scripture", and pray. They may seek guidance from their pastor, and ask him if "believers" are really just a bunch of low-wattage, Night of the Living Dead zombies. I mistrust your stats. First of all speaking of "public intellectuals" is bogus. Intellect is intellect whether public or private. Secondly, IQ tests do not really measure intelligence. Thirdly, who could possibly have any respect for the likes of Freud or Marx?
When devising questions to measure the quotient of intelligence, I feel that several factors were not included. For instance, when Einstein's brain was sliced and put under a microscope, it showed that in a certain area of his brain, there were many connections (the dendrites actually were quite dense) When compared to a manual labourer, they found the same denseness, but in a different area of the brain. That is to say, although Einstein was considered by the intellectual community as a genius, there are other kinds of geniuses out there that do not fall under the same quotient. I don't think intellectuals could change out their own plumbing, although they probably could have told you how to do it after they had studied some. (comparatively speaking.)

Their IQ means nothing to me. Some of the people with the highest IQ"s are actually the dumbest. No one can make you believe in God. Most people who try to talk to you about God is concerned for your soul. They know that a man can believe a lie and hurt himself. Since you do not believe there is a heaven or hell, it would do no good to tell you that denying the existence of God does not prevent you from giving account to God. I recently heard a man say " THERE WILL BE NO ATHEIST IN HELL" Makes a lot of sense if you think about it.
