Do you believe that psychics and astrologers can predict someone's future?
I personally don't believe in that stuff, but my friend had a consultation with a very famous "world-class" astrologer + psychic who said that he has a very bad "horoscope" and that there is a high chance he will die in a car crash. He fell into a clinical depression right now, and I don't know what to do to help him. Do you believe that something like that is possible, i know that science doesn't accept astrology, but would you believe in it?

- that's bull, but by putting this is his head the friend might become careless and be more accident prone from the stress of this stupid prediction from someone who is an idiot
- i don't know your religious beliefs, but only God knows our future. There is no way a human can predict someone's death.
- I'm a skeptic but I also believe in observation and deduction. If you walked into my 'psychic" shop wearing a motorcycle helmet and were hyperactive I might very well predict a high chance you will die in a motorcycle accident
- Million dollars says no. This challenge has been offered for over ten years for the first person to prove any type of psychic ability. Until this is won, there are no such people. It's obvious that it's easier to take small amounts of money from the gullible than a million proving an alleged "power". "What can be asserted without proof can be dismissed without proof." – Christopher Hitchens.
- There's a big hole in your story, either your friend is a big fibber or you are. No psychic astrologer is going to make such a prediction. This tale is codswallop, pure unadulterated codswallop, and a "world-class" shame on you to the author.
- To question one, NO, I do not believe any person can predict the future, except through intelligent guesses. To question number two, get this friend some lithium or other antidepressant.
- Ask them to predict the winning lottery numbers. If they are correct, something like that is possible.
- See now here is the whole danger with such charlatans. This poor friend of yours has believed a fraudster at their worst. I am sure that if you friend went back, there would be all sorts of paraphernalia that would be offered to help him stop this from happening. The truth is, and this is important, it is not going to happen anyway. So there is no need to waste any more money just in case he wanted to go back... Here is your proof. The stars in any particular constellation are not even closely related to each other, let alone have any bearing on the Earth or a single person whatsoever. Take the example of Gemini - seeing you wish to use zodiacal constellations. The 2 main stars that you can see are called Pollux and Castor. Now, one lays approx 35 light-years from us (a light-year in case you are unsure is measurement of distance - the distance of one light-year is approx 9.5 trillion kilometers) the other is some 50 light years away! So as you can see, they are not even close to each other, let alone close enough to us to have any influence over a persons life. You see, a constellation, zodiacal or not, is simply a line of sight grouping of stars assembled on a star map for navigation and identification purposes only. The names of these constellation are purely tales of mythology and are simply that - stories. So, no there is no reason for science to accept astrology nor has there been since the 1600's. Oh, and by the way, there are actually 13 constellations along the ecliptic or zodiac but for some reason Ophiuchus is ignored by and large by the whole Horoscope fraternity. This is becuase it does not 'fit' into thier thier simple calculations. So, please tell your friend that no matter what they would like believe that the "reading" of a horoscope is nothing more than hogwash and cannot possibly be anything else. As for a psychic, well, if this person is a "very famous "world-class" astrologer + psychic" ask this so called "world class" person why he/she has not taken Randi's million dollar challenge and succeeded yet? The answer is simple - he/she is a fraud and a phony and dangerous one at that. Even if this person has no need for the money himself/herself they have a duty to the community to take the money and donate it to homeless or some other worthy cause. Because if they are actually what they say they are, then it should not be much of a drama for them then should it? So, no. There is absolutely no reason for your friend to believe such claptrap. Anyway, I hope this helps you and your friend - good luck.
- the moment they can tell me next weeks lotto numbers then I'll be impressed
- The whole idea is a violation of causality. An effect cannot precede a cause, so information cannot travel backwards in time to be received as a "psychic prediction." Something so casual as a psychic reading flies in the face of all known physics. It's therefore more likely to conclude that it's bunk; it's at best deception, at worst a scam.
- no
- Astrology and psychics are usually con artist, or some other form of fraud. I checked government statistics and the leading cause of death for men between 17 and 25 is an automotive accident. The Psychic is perpetrating a classic fraud, by predicting things that are statistically likely to happen in order to scare and bedazzle your friend. Many of these quacks will have somebody tail you if they think that you will give them a lot of money. The person tailing you will report details of your life back to the psychic so that they can have premonitions that you'll be likely to believe. Tell your friend that the psychic is full of it and that he shouldn't listen to him. Also go to the court house and see if any one has sued or pressed criminal charges against the psychic he is in contact with and find out if he payed out damages.
- A bad "horoscope"? That is not terminology a real astrologer would use. Please tell your friend he was duped.
- Who is this world class astrologer/psychic? It is very unethical to drop something like that on somebody and just leave them hanging. I don't like to pass judgment on people I don't know but it doesn't sound like they are positive and doing what they are doing for the good of all concerned. Tell your friend that the future is ever changing, the only real time is now. If this psychic had a code of ethics, they would have been able to delve deeper, see where the danger was and provide positive information to alter the course. If they couldn't see that, they wouldn't just share that news. There is no such thing as a bad horoscope. Nothing is black and white when it comes to this kind of thing. That's like saying "Your life sucks! Next!" and that is just not true for anyone and there is always a way to move forward positively. There is a chance that everyone will die in a car crash because everyone dies. What good does delivering such information do for a person? It has no value and only creates fear. To answer your last question, I wouldn't trust anyone who told me something like that. I am a psychic and even when I have read something bad in my own cards, there was a positive aspect to it or a way for it to be avoided. I would never deliver such a message to someone and if I did see death in their future, I would focus on their life fulfillment, not their death. I am wary of anyone who comes to me spiritually but tries to put fear in my heart. That's not the point of having such a gift.
