Where can I buy tarot cards? (UK)?
I have been wondering lately, where I can obtain a set of tarot cards + a book or something to learn from. I live in the UK, and also, I would like to buy them from a SHOP not online. Also, does anybody know what price range I could get the cards and the book for, either together or separately? Thank you in advance :)

- If you have internet, go online. Google Amazon or Tarot, etc. You might not have a credit card,. though. If you don't want to buy them online, is there a place you know that sells them? If not a place like that, then you have no other options and so what is the point of your question? You can buy them online or from a place that sells them. Ideally, and traditionally, it is best when they are received by you as a gift from another... It makes them more magickal somehow.
- waterstone the shop sell them in the spirit and religion section and they sell good ancient decks (not actual ancient cards but copy's of them) for about 5 pounds and they come with a tarot book as well or you can but a separate book if you want for about 3 pounds. hope this helps blessed be, Daniel :)
- What part of the UK? .... In Kent,England, there are a couple of tiny little shops in Chatham & Rochester that may be of help to you. In Cornwall, you can certainly find what you are after in Boscastle & Tintagel. (go with Boscastle). While you are there, drop into the Museum of WitchCraft, well worth a look even if you have no interest in that sort of thing! Or, If you cross the river into Plymouth, I think you might find something there. It's large enough to have at least 1 store selling them, surely! .... BUT,, Your BEST BET, is to try to obtain a copy of the magazine "Pagan Dawn." In it there is a Very Good 'Classified Section' which covers the whole of the UK & lists things by Country & County! ..... There are Shops, Private Sellers, Contacts, Groups, Classes, & all the bits & peices one needs to practice WitchCraft or Magick there for sale! ..... I am in AUSTRALIA, & I have been to England only the Once for a few months, but in that short time, my wife & I did get around quite a bit!!
- If you live in a city there may be a crystal or newage shop. In Derby theres a crystal shop in the Market Hall that has Rider Waite decks and a few others about £20-ish, I think. However, if you can get to a Waterstones they have books and some books with decks. Go and look at them and handle them if you can. You may find that you like one deck over the others that you see/handle and this is the one for you. They can be in the £17-£30 range. Good luck with finding your deck.
- Online or from the deck authors themselves (you can find lists and reviews at Aeclectic Tarot's site, just google them). Most large bookstores have decks, but the selection is pretty restricted. Price range in the US is around $25 to $30 dollars average for a deck. Paperback or hardcover books are usually sold separately for the decks that have one. ALL decks will have that little white booklet, however.
- It really depends where you are, but most major towns and cities have 'alternative' shops. That's where you'll find 'em! I hate to say it, but online will be your best bet for getting the deck that you're drawn to, unless you're lucky enough to live in london lol! As for price, well you're looking at around a tenner to forty quid, depending on what you want. For example, the Crowley or the Waite deck(plus essential explanitory books) will set you back approx. £40 wholesale(but they're worth it!). All in all though, the main thing to remember is - is that they're JUST inanimate objects - mass-produced cardboard with ink pictures. The skill comes from the methods by which the reader interprets the layouts, hence why the decks I mentioned cost so much - they provide in their accompanying books, depth of understanding about the Tarot rarely found elsewhere. All the best on your journey! :)
- First and foremost, you yourself should not purchase your own Tarot Cards. They should be purchased FOR YOU as a gift. Then their karma will be to your advantage and also benefit the sitters for whom you read.
- Firstly, you shouldn't buy tarot cards fot yourself, i was told they must be gifted to you in order to work properly. However, if you do want to buy them any major bookstore should have a cheap pack. Other than that you should go to an Alternative store. They tend to come with a the book at commercialized centers such as bookstores but you'll have to buy it seperate if you go to an actual place. Price range in US is about $20 for both the card and book so... 14 GBP i think Hope i helped :)
