Good Pokemon D/P/Pt or HG/SS competitive battling team?
Right now, I am currently in the process of making a good competitive battling team in my Pokemon Emerald game (literally, too. I'm playing my Emerald as I'm typing this). I am going to be transferring it over to either my Diamond, Pearl, or HG games. I'm wondering if this is a good team. I don't have all of these Pokemon yet. I either have a pre-evolved form of them or am working to get these Pokemon with the appropriate nature: Blaziken, F Ability: Blaze Nature: Docile Role: Mixed Sweeper Sky Uppercut Flamethrower Fire Blast Bulk Up Gardevoir, M (I actually do have a male Gardevoir with this nature, but I just need to find TM30 Shadow Ball and I'll be all set) Abilities: Trace & Synchronize Nature: Mild Role: Special Sweeper Calm Mind Shock Wave Shadow Ball Psychic Sableye, M Ability: Keen Eye Nature: Impish Role: Mixed Wall Reflect Light Screen Detect Double Team Miltank, F Ability: Thick Fat Nature: ?? Role: Annoyer/Healer Toxic Milk Drink Swagger Heal Bell Gyraods, M (Possibly switching it out. Not sure yet) Ability:Intimidate Nature: ?? Role: Bulky Water Ice Beam Surf Rain Dance Earthquake Flygon, F Ability: Levitate Nature: Adamant Role: Physical Sweeper Fly Aerial Ace Dragon Claw Return I need help figuring out what natures to do for Milktank and Gyrados. Should I also switch Gyrados out for another Bulky Water like Vaporeon or Milotic? I've worked with a Blaziken and Gardevoir before, although not in a competitive battling sense, but I don't know much about the rest of them, especially Miltank. Oh, yes, I should also mention that this Blaziken is my starter, so the gender, ability and nature are accurate. Right now, it's currently a Combusken at Lv33 with the moves of Double Kick, Ember, Bulk Up, and Quick Attack. It's a work in progress :-) Thanks for your help!! Thanks!! What natures do you suggest I do for Miltank and Gyrados (their natures are TBD, and that's really why I need help)? I'm hoping that the type-balancing I've got, in addition to the fact each of these Pokemon are specialized in a certain role, will equal W's in the competitive battling world!! @ Ray: Unfortunately, I started out w/ Piplup in Diamond and Turtwig in Pearl, and I'm going to be transferring this team over to Diamond, I think. Although your suggestions are good, I am, again, going for really good type-balancing, and don't want to have too many weaknesses, and your Pokemon suggestions will open me up to all sorts of issues with that, so I'll stick with a lot of these Pokemon. I am, however, going to take your suggestion and switch Miltank for Blissey. I am also going to switch Gyrados for Vaporeon, since I was considering switching Gyrados out anyways, and I can breed Eevees galore in Diamond :-D. With Blaziken, it's, again, one of the two female starters I've ever come by (my other one was a Swampert in the same Emerald game I constantly start over for fun), and female starters are extremely difficult to come by, as you know. I chose this Blaziken strictly b/c of the Docile Nature it has, which, I think, makes it easier for you to breed its EVs to your liking. @ Ray again: I know what EVs are, although IVs are a bit complicated. There are some spots in Emerald I know I'll use for training: Sp. Attack: Tentacool (Water) and Oddish (best spot is Rout 121) Defense: Victory Road Sp. Defense & Defense: Sableye (the cave outside Dewford Town whose name slips my mind right now, and I THINK you can encounter them @ Sky Tower) Speed- Wingull & Pelipper (Water) Attack- Poochyena & Mightyena (Routes 118-121 are best best) @ilovegreg4-ever: I have used the same moveset for Gardevoir everytime I use it: Calm Mind, Future Sight, Shadow Ball, Psychic. I love Future Sight, but have decided to switch things up a bit this go around with one.

- AN AWESOME TEAM!!!
- blaziken- good pokemon. high physical attack of 120 but low defense of 70, blaziken will just be kept as a physical attacker. move set- teach him blaze kick instead of flamethrower because blaze kick is a physical attack and will compliment his stats and the move bulk up (which raises physical attack) excahnge fire blaze for flare blitz because flare blitz is a physical attack as well, kepp sky upper cut gardevoir- has a high special attack of 125 a high special defense of 115 but a low defense of 65. gardevior is good if you don't play him against physical attackers. move set- you could get rid of charge beam and shadow ball and teach gardevoir hypnosis and dream eater (which does 100 damage) or you could keep shadow ball and teach gardevoir future sight. after using future sight you wait 3 turns and then the defneding pokemon is hit with an attack that does 100 damage. charge beam only does 60 damage so get rid of that. sableye- an all around terrible pokemon with a n attack of 75 and special attack of 65 (special defense is the same as speical attack and defense is the same as the attack) rid of the pokemon for success. if you must have a dark type I suggest umbreon because it has a very high defense and your team could use a pokemon with high defense. milktank- another terrible pokemon with a very low attack and defense stat, trade it out for a touros or snorlax. gyarados, keeep! make it an adamant nature which will raise its attack stat by 10% and gyarados already has a very high physical attack! teach it, dragon dance (rises attack and defnese) waterfall (physical attack) avalanche (another physical attack) and keep earthquake! flygon- looks good! has a high attack of 100 and high speed of 100! teach it physical attacks, moveset looks good except replace aerial ace with sandstorm (since its a ground type) or earthquake and replace return with dig or slam or dragon dance that will raise the physical attack and defense. I'm sorry its so long but I really hope it helps!
- There's quite a large number of changes I can suggest, so let's get started! Please note that these *are not the best* suggestions as your battle style will vary. I will be giving you a website at the end in order to help you learn more, this is just to get you started. Blaziken: Blaziken is outclassed by Infernape in the 4th generation, this is not the case in 5th generation which will not come out to the United States in a while. But regardless, Blaziken has some trouble fitting in. If you can, switch to Infernape, Infernape has better distributed stats and can run better as a mixed sweeper. If you want to continue using Blaziken however, let me point out a few things. You're going to want to breed another Blaziken if possible, the goal is Naive/Hasty nature if you're aiming for a mixed sweeper, this may lower defense in special or physical, but with higher speed it's invaluable, as if your opponent outspeeds you, more than likely they will OHKO Blaziken. Once that is out of the way here's a recommended move set, you're going to want to give your Blaziken a Life Orb: - Fire Blast/Flamethrower - Low Kick/Superpower (Low kick is more viable as there are many heavy Pokemon you will be battling competitively.) [Sky Uppercut is just not as strong] - Earthquake/Stone Edge - Vacuum Wave Again, you're better off getting an Infernape, as it totally outclasses Blaziken in terms of speed and movepool. Sableye is never used really. I'd strongly suggest replacing him if you want to increase your team's synergy. Sure it has no weaknesses, but it has bad stats to boot. I suggest replacing it with a Gengar.Gengar hits fast and hard. Gengar is the fastest ghost in the game and will wreck most Pokemon with a Shadow Ball. Aim for a Timid nature for speed, aim for a Modest nature for more power. - Shadow Ball - Focus Blast - Thunderbolt - Substitute Miltank is also outclassed, sorry to say. You're better off with Blissey, who walls basically every special attack move and has a HUGE amount of HP to boast. Blissey is also capable of Wishing your Pokemon to full health. Something like this would work for Blissey: MAKE SURE BLISSEY HAS LEFTOVERS. It's the BEST thing for it to have! - Wish - Protect - Seismic Toss (WHEN BLISSEY REACHES 100, THIS IS VERY USEFUL) - Toxic The purpose of this is to pass wishes to your Pokemon to restore health, as well as using Toxic on an opposing Pokemon that doesn't resist it. Blissey will be able to stall it out until it dies if it's not smart enough to switch out. A bold nature is prefered, as Blissey has awful defense, bolstering its defense will really help. I'd like to immediately point out that Gyarados is NOT a bulky water. Having Blissey gives you the freedom of not needing a bulky water. However, should you want one anyway, Vaporeon will do the trick, boasting high HP, a decent special attack and the ability to wish it will help. If you want to continue with Gyarados, it's best if he's used as a set up sweeper utilizing Dragon Dance which increases its attack and speed to one hit everything first if possible. Note that Gyarados should be using attack based moves, and NOT special attack, a mistake many people make. Gyarados should be using Jolly or Adamant. - Dragon Dance - Earthquake - Waterfall - Stone Edge Flygon is an underestimated Pokemon, but now it has regained some recognition. Flygon serves as an excellent revenge killer and scout. Flygon has STAB Earthquake, reaching 150 base power, STAB Outrage reaching 180 base power. Combine this with a Choice Scarf, Flygon can revenge kill many. It will be locked into one move, so pick wisely then switch out. You can keep Adamant, or run Jolly if you want more speed. Item: Choice Scarf - Earthquake - Outrage - U-Turn (For scouting) - Stone Edge/Fire Blast (To kill Skarmory who walls it) You need a Stealth Rocker and a lead now, so I suggest replacing Gardevoir: Metagross is slower, but has a base attack of 135. Metagross is DEADLY when it hits physically. Metagross is rather stable, so it can sustain attacks. - Stealth Rock - Bullet Punch - Earthquake - Explosion/Agility. Azelf is the MOST common lead that will use Stealth Rock. Azelf has high speed, high attack, and high special attack. This may look promising, but the defenses will let it down to be killed quick. Azelf usually does not stay alive very long, only to set up Stealth Rocks and kill one Pokemon. Azelf can also run as a wall set. -Stealth Rock -Fire Blast/Psychic -Taunt -Explosion or -Light Screen -Reflect -Stealth Rock -Explosion I would suggest researching what EV's are and how they benefit your Pokemon, same with IV's. EV's are CRITICAL to understanding. http://serebii.net/games/evs.shtml Good luck!
