Can people obtain free services for chronic conditions?

A person close to me has lived with chronic joint pain for the last 6 years. He has tried every avenue: blood tests, X-Rays, specialists, acupuncture, hypnosis, spiritual healing, detox, vitamin regimens... Unfortunately, he doesn't have insurance and has run out of money. Are there doctors or specialists or private sponsors for people with chronic conditions looking to be healed? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
