Would it be a sin to have a tarot reading?

I'm Catholic, and I was wondering if it would be considered a sin to have a tarot reading, if I didn't believe in it. Just for the sake of having the experience? (Don't tell me whether you consider it Satanic or not, I'm not in it to worship the Devil or otherwise, I just want to see what it's like.)

  1. I think the real question is why you want to have a tarot reading. If it's simply a desire to know what it's like, then you could read about it. You don't have to go to one.
  2. Intent is the answer. You are doing for entertainment. And I suggest you keep it that way. Believe nothing but enjoy yourself. If you get a good reading, you may find it amazing.
  3. Fear denies faith.
  4. Tarot readings doesn't even come close to devil worshipping and whatever other nonsense some people say about it. Of course it's not a sin. Tarot cards are merely tools for guidance and change, not for predicting the future.
  5. Well it will be a question of your faith since the word of God tells us we are not to necromance or play with strange fire and familiar spirits, that is exactly tarot and things of it does. God is trying to protect your soul, He loves you and finds your soul precious. We should not be seduced by things of the dark spirits or of witchcraft. these things start out innocently from curiosity and they can sometimes escalate if you do not have a strong faith, and strong faith would not let you seek out this activity. Hey, why not talk to your parents or your priest and get their opinion on it and then see from what they say, if this is something you are so interested in. Good luck to you, walk in the light.
  6. Yes, to seek any answers aside from God is sin. Its called divination in the bible
  7. Tarot cards are associated with magic and mysticism. In various passages throughout the Bible, Hebrew and Greek, servants of God are warned to avoid anything involving the occult. Who is behind occult practices? Satan! ! As a professing Christian do you think that Jesus or his disciples would involve themselves in that? And furthermore all you're doing is shaking hands with Satan and the demons, so to speak.
  8. Yes. Catholic Church teaches: All forms of divination are to be rejected: recourse to Satan or demons, conjuring up the dead or other practices falsely supposed to "unveil" the future. Consulting horoscopes, astrology, palm reading, interpretation of omens and lots, the phenomena of clairvoyance, and recourse to mediums all conceal a desire for power over time, history, and, in the last analysis, other human beings, as well as a wish to conciliate hidden powers. They contradict the honor, respect, and loving fear that we owe to God alone. For more information, see the Catechism of the Catholic Church, section 2116: http://www.nccbuscc.org/catechism/text/pt3sect2chpt1.shtml#2116 With love in Christ.
  9. Tarot has nothing at all to do with satanism, which didn't even exist until Christianity came along. If you study religion, all of them are connected on a spiritual basis. The real sin is far, to face your own fears is not a sin, it's how you overcome them. The tarot is simply a tool used to connect to the subconscious, which is the middle man between the higher conscious, or God and your conscious mind. If you have a subconscious, then does that make you a sinner or evil? I think not, it the fear of not understanding it and the spiritual side of life that has become feared due to the far concepts of religions who impose their dogma on others. Tarot is simply a tool that allows you to connect with symbols based on spiritual understanding and archetypes on the psychological level. All symbols of Christian based beliefs all come from those who they destroyed, the Pagans ... in the name of God they killed other human beings, just as all major orthodox beliefs who were led by political leaders for power. Do some in depth study of many different belief systems and you will find they all connect, Mans desire for Power and control over others through fear is the corrupt part of all belief systems. Jesus was a master at divination and the occult sciences, he was not taught by Christians, yet they are led to believe he was. I won't even go into it further due to upsetting those with different beliefs who have not studied their own beliefs in depth outside of what they have been told and in their own doctrines, much less other beliefs. Do you really think that we have so many different beliefs that all tell the same story, only in a different form, that they are not all connected? The truth was concealed because of fear of losing control of people, to keep them ignorant and in fear was the easiest way to control them Astrology is also looked at as evil by many Christians, but what do you think the three wise men were? Or known as the three Magi by the Jews, and before them ... the three Astrologers. Every belief system that has ever been is connected to the movement of the plants and stars, this is proven fact. Divination comes from spirit, tarot is only a tool to access the subconscious to see what messages spirit is communicating. Fear itself is the real evil and darkness, this was taught by every messiah of every religion on earth. So no, it is not evil, if you have a subconscious and a connection to your higher power (which we all do) then it is not evil.
