Do tarot readings create bad karma?

I heard from a friend that doing tarot readings uses up your good karma. I've recently started reading, and I'm wondering if this is true. I can't seem to find anything online.

  1. I don't think it does because it is using the energy you put into it. I've never heard of this.
  2. Oh, I doubt it. There are even sets of Karma Tarot cards. I have never heard of any kind of claim, it sound more like what somebody would say if they didn't understand what Tarot really was.
  3. tarot supposed to predict bad things , not create it ..
  4. Yes, I Heard That They Do .
  5. Ok, so to generalise horribly, you get good karma though being selfless, loyal, loving and generally an all round good person. You get bad karma by being vile, cruel, etc. How can using tarot cards be vile and cruel, and cause harm to people? You're safe with Tarot, provided you don't use the cards to throw at blind people, trip up old people, or give phoney readings telling your friends they're going to die in the weekend.
  6. Tarot cards don't cause bad karma, unless you use them with negative intention. Tarot opens up the intuition, and symbolically show what's boiling subconsciously.
  7. Hmm, perhaps. However it definitely depends how much the person depends on the readings.
  8. What your friend said is a load of bull and I have no idea where she got it. She's likely just trying to scare you because tarot scares her. First of all, Tarot and the concept of Karma come from two totally different cultures. Secondly, there is nothing bad about reading tarot unless you are using it to manipulate people. Thirdly, you can't "use up" your "good karma"... this is a concept I've never heard of in ANY culture or religion. Karma is something you build, good, bad, neutral etc. In Hinduism and Buddhism, the more good karma you build, the more Godlike you will be in your next life. The more bad karma you build, the lower down the food chain you'll be in your next life. The goal of Hinduism is to go UP the food chain. The goal of Buddhism is to get off the food chain entirely. In neither religion is karma seen as credit points that you can "use up" through behaviors in life. Fourthly, if you are doing tarot properly and for the right reasons, you're more likely to build up "good" karma then "bad" and learn things about yourself, which is never bad. Lastly, I don't even believe in karma, so the thought of "spending" it or building it in relation to tarot doesn't hold water with me either way. -Scarlet
